| AX10 deadbolt - fun build with crawler focus
Last year I boguht a Wratih PS for my son. I was debating whether to get the Deadbolt or PS and I have wanted a deadbolt for some time now. A few days ago I realized that I had so much parts over from my wraith that I could use it for a ax10 build. So now was the time I placed an order for the parts needed from a chop shop. The intial plan was to use as much spare parts as I could and change when breakage occur. But as the shipping time (USA - > Sweden) can be quite long the plan has already eroded.... Received lots of parts and while waiting I have decided to change the setup. So the current planned setup is like this; Electronics: BEC: Castle 10A ESC 1: Castle MMP ESC 2: Axial AE-2 Motor 1: Holmes Torquemaster pro 27T Motor 2: Leopard 540 Tires & Wheels: 2.2 HB Rovers (white) Mayhem Eng. 2.2 Trail Readys Drive Shaft: Axial HD WildBoars (Was going for another set of MIPs but after reading about these HD boars...) Front Axle: Vanquish Knuckles (Black) Vanquish VVD v.1 Vanquish Steering rod & link Axial HD Bevel gear 38T Bluemonkeyrc knuckle weigths or rcbros knuckle weigths Vanquish 12mm Clamping hexes Beeftubes Hitec 7980 servo STRC diff cover v.2 (black) Rear Axle: Vanquish lockouts Beeftubes STRC diff cover v.2 (black) Links: Vanquish Wraith lower links. Vanquish Wraith Upper links Shocks: Traxxas BB (4962) with mini-t springs & rcbros cups Last edited by Crawler++; 03-22-2015 at 06:51 AM. |

Did some furhter building today. I did grind the rear drive shaft using a drill to fit with the beeftubes and I did just a tad too much. So now the rear shafts doesn't lock-in as they should. For now I put a piece of plastic inside the lockers to keep the shaft apart. I did order some holmes hobbies spools hopeully they will solve the problem, else I will have to order new shafts. I also remembered that the axial trusses offsets the axles to the left (or right) about 5 mm. So I have vanquish trusses coming. One anoying thing is that the vanquish stage one kit didn't come with the metal flanged pipes. ... 99$ and it's not complete.... |

I was gonna run pitbulls or tsl swampers on Gear Head rims but my son took the pitbull/gear head setup. I will test Sedonas or Rovers. I have some mayem eng. 2.2 Trail Readys on order. I was going to run stock shock with STRC shock bodies and Axial delrin pistons. I have this setup on my sons wraith and was kinda pleased with how it worked. Its a very smooth setup. However it's hard to get those axial cartridges to stay leak free and I got tired of trying to fix that. Changed my mind and ordered a set of traxxas 4962, losi mini-t rear springs and rcbros spring cups.

Damn kid's stealing all the bling! Ive heard good things about the Sedonas and Rovers, but i got a soft spot for the TLS's. Wanna give the new voodoos a try do, only thing holding me off so far is the hight on them. Yeah, i have the same exp with axial cartridges, thats why im hessitant to buy axial shock's (or strc with axial cartridges) if im not happy with my current shock setup. Not sure what alternative i might go for yet. Last edited by Rcdood; 03-23-2015 at 02:54 AM. |

Now he wants the deadbolt body because he likes the skeleton head. So I will probably get him the spawn interior with skeleton head for his birthday. I like to try the voodoos as well. I like the look of them to. I also would say the comp tires like rovers, sedonas and voodoos are in their own league compared to scale tires. However the new swamper xl's was surprisingly good. You are running the gmade shocks?

Hehe, your son is fortunate to have a dad like you ;) The voodoos im lookin at is pretty scale, the rest got more of a comp look as you mention. X4 Racing 2.2 Voodoo U4 Tire - Silver Compound (2) Yeah, i bouth gmade shocks, but they are the 93mm once. I have built them, and they feel real nice. The thing im worried about is ridehight and articulation since its shorter than stock, but it does have decent travel length of 26mm I havent mounted them yet, as im waiting for the last few parts before i stripp it and mount all the new hop ups in one go. |

More parts are coming in. Got the AE-2 esc and tested some different locations for it. Think I'm gonna go with this upside down setup. Also got my Holmes torquemaster Pro. Gonna be interesting to see how it runs |

More stuff came in yesterday. RCBros knuckle weight holders and bluemonkeyrc Knuckle weights. There was a thing called "alignment tool". Not sure how to use though Turns out these are can be set up together. This is setup with Vanquish 225. The RCBros weigth holder rubs slighty but I took a round grinder and removed about 0.5 mm and they clear now. |

The RCBros knuckle holder is just a bendt alu thing with holes in it. Simple design but finish is good. Along with the holder you need the brass rings. The bluemonkeyrc weight system has a really tight fit. I was impressed by that.
