Axial ax10 14 inch wheelbase Hi. I'm picking up an axial ax10 tomorrow from a friend that is artr minus battery, receiver and transmitter and I'd like to use it with a hard plastic Toyota tundra body I'm getting soon with a 14 inch wheelbase. Also getting a custom made frame that is 21 inches long to work with the overall length of 23 inches of the body including the bumpers. Any suggestions as to what I should use for links to change to the 14 inch wheelbase and what to do for driveshafts would be appreciated. I have some 1/10 e revo end links left over from another project and can pick up another package to use for the links. I like doing my own work piecing things together. Putting it together won't be a problem. Just curious to see if there are any parts I could use that I could pick up at my local hobby shop to put it together or if anyone has done a 14 inch wheelbase on an ax10 before and has any tips or suggestions they would be greatly appreciated. :) Thanks. Re: Axial ax10 14 inch wheelbase http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...45b0ea24b5.jpg Forgot to post a pic of the body and frame. Have a set of aluminum 1.9 wheels and tires coming that I may use on it unless I decide to use the wheels and tires that are on it now instead. Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk |
Re: Axial ax10 14 inch wheelbase I also have an scx10 if that would be easier to swap to the 14 inch wheelbase and I could put the scx10 honcho body on the ax10 Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk |
Re: Axial ax10 14 inch wheelbase I just talked to the seller of the frame and he said that the skid plate mounting holes are not drilled in the frame so I have the option of drilling the frame to use either the ax10 or scx10 transmission skidplate. Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk |
Re: Axial ax10 14 inch wheelbase Ax10 and scx skid plates are interchangeable. I like using the scx skid personally. 14" wheelbase is easy to get with revo pushrods and jato rod ends. |
Re: Axial ax10 14 inch wheelbase Thanks for the reply. I have revo end links now. You mean stock 1/10 revo pushrods ? I'd need to find a part number. Jato rear ends ? Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk |
Re: Axial ax10 14 inch wheelbase I had a 14.5 inch wheelbase on my 1/6 Jeep, I used 106mm on the rear and 102mm on the front, and used the plastic rod ends both long and short. I had the short rod ends on one end of the 106mm and the long rod ends on the other end, and the 102's used short on both ends. I just had to find the right combination that worked. SCX-10 framerails with Wraith skid. Wraith skid is longer than the scx-10 skid. You'll have to experiment. It might be easier on the wallet to pick up some allthread and brakeline and just make your own links |
Re: Axial ax10 14 inch wheelbase Thanks Mike :) I was wondering what length of links I could use for the length of wheelbase I need. How does the ax10 skid match up sizewise to the scx skid ? I have an scx honcho as well. I'm picking up the ax10 tomorrow night and will compare parts between it and what I already have to see what I want to use where. Re: Axial ax10 14 inch wheelbase Pretty sure they're interchangeable, White Trash confirmed that above. |
Re: Axial ax10 14 inch wheelbase Oops. Missed that part. Thanks for the replies :) Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk |
Re: Axial ax10 14 inch wheelbase 1 Attachment(s) Can't you use the Yeti/Bomber rear upper and lower links in the front and rear of your build? I've seen that done to a couple different trucks. |
Re: Axial ax10 14 inch wheelbase He didn't say, and I didn't ask, what he was using the truck for, crawling, trailing, or monster/mega build. I wouldn't think you'd use trailing arms for a crawler. |
Re: Axial ax10 14 inch wheelbase Why not? My three best performing crawlers have trailing arms. |
Re: Axial ax10 14 inch wheelbase I just picked up the ax10 tonight when I was on lunch at work. :) http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...e2b5ba48e3.jpg Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk |
Re: Axial ax10 14 inch wheelbase ^I'm going to use it as a crawler/trail truck. This ax10 has more upgrades than I originally thought on it :) has tamiya bruiser axles for starters. I can list the upgrades if anyone would like to know them. Cleaning up the body tonight and will do a bit of work on it tomorrow probably too :) Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk |
Re: Axial ax10 14 inch wheelbase Show some pics with the body off, let's see what she's got. |

These should be better. The lighting in the living room of my apartment sucks. Just the one light in the corner. Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk |
Re: Axial ax10 14 inch wheelbase Those are tlt axles. |
Re: Axial ax10 14 inch wheelbase Thanks for clarifying. Friend I got it from said they were bruiser axles so was just going by what he said. Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk |
