Default Scared of castle 10a bec? Fire hazard?

Hi guys, I was doing some digging, did I make a mistake buying a castle bec? A friend of mine is going to let me use his castle links because I didn't want to spend another $20 to change the voltage from 5.1v-6v. Anywho, I thought these castle 10amp becs were legendary, now I am scared to plug mine in that I just got today after finding out about the "CC bec fires" Is this true? I bought mine from Liquid RC on eBay. Or was this a fluke?

Thanks
-Spence

Yes they can catch on fire, but so can a lipo or esc. Best way to avoid this, dont hook up the wrong polarity and try to keep some air flow to it.

Jesus, should I just return the thing? I mean the reported fire recall was like 2 years ago but I'm still scared, I got the thing yesterday haven't even installed it... Should I just call up castle creations and see whats up? I think there was a recall on them... It said its revision date was 05/2017 and it was assembled in mexico so I assume yes it shouldn't catch fire? I mean maybe the ppl that it caught fire didn't install them properly?

You'll be fine. Call castle if it'll make you feel better.

There's a recall? I've got several. Never had a problem.

i just killed one of mine, these was from my most recent purchase, just hooked up to a cheap "hi tolque" servo, the servo seized and took out the bec, no fire, just the smell of electronics death, i also have about 15 other rigs with castle becs ranging from 10 years to newer ones and no problems so far.

How did you have the BEC and servo wired? BEC to receiver or BEC to servo and signal wire from receiver?

Cheers

bec to receiver, voltage wire removed from output of bec to receiver. I wired all my rigs that way.

Are you sure?

If this is how you have wired 15 rigs then you've wasted 15 BECS

That's how castle shows it in the instructions.

You are not just changing the voltage from 5.1vdc to 6vdc by adding a castle bec....
