shapeways wheels my man. design a set. then have em print em. if your measurements are right the first time, the first print is 100% spot on. from my experience anyway.

1mm wall thickness would be just fine. I couldn't imagine an elaborate design being more than 16-18 bucks. if you decide to do just a couple faces and run spacers id run 2mm for the wheel face itself. shouldn't be more than 4 bucks a disk.

Shapeways does good stuff, if I come up with a good wheel face Id probably upload the insert and offer the faces. Right now its just a generic face look and its easier printing at home for test fits then waiting and paying them.

So far everything fitting good and its strong enough. Plus I know High Altitude Performance is working on some hanger faces for their portals. Id wait to see what they come up with since mine are meant to work with my wheels. Not too versatile for everyone.

Is that chassis a new version of the unstuck or something different? Are you going to start selling it?

Excellent build thread. CI has a set of Casey's axles that Gavin is building into a comp crawler. The transmission has been holding us up too.

Do you have any pics of the oval car you're working on?

I have a cheeseburger that I reworked to fit in my chassis but am rethinking all the reduction. The portals are OD/UD already so thinking the OD/UD in a tranny too might make it too slow.

Reworked the gears last night to make a diet-hamburg to try first, gotta cut the skid and tranny next week for fit.

I do SK cars Oval cars. We have to submit our chassis every season for approval unless theyre already approved. Working on a new one for this coming season and rule changes, its fun.

The red one was last years car, took a lot of podium spots from a veteran driver I scored to drive for us.

The alum chassis one is the new car I tested last year and have on its way to another veteran driver for some summer testing.

Why did you drill the c hub screw holes wrong? Left is between the spline and right is on top of the spline. Now I know it'll never work, the balance is all off!

I have the battery and servo on that side, I didnt want to have too much weight shifted rearward.

maybe he wanted a little more castor on one side. hehe.

gonna mount the esc above the batt on the servo/bat plate? looks like its gonna be a toit squeeze for the front shaft.

It was too easy to do that, your stuff just slid right in place. Since I never plan things out on paper your stuff made everything fit together easy first try.

Tranny output is gonna be on the same side so itll be rather straight. Im either going with SDI shaft, Inscisions or Ottsixx new ones. Not sure yet until I reach that point and we see what hits the shopping cart.

ESC and maybe the RX up top is my first thinking. Im playing with the idea of rotating the servo to match the shock too. This will give me some space between it and the battery underneath for bec and/or RX. Good thing though is theres so much real estate to play with since the battery is going in the printed trap door.

Last nights excitement, print a skid and put the square peg in the round hole. Couple of tweaks and tranny will fit how I want it.

So got some machine time yesterday and found my new love. Brass ..... omg they came out so beautiful the finish was mirror like to me. I was nervous about brass, its softer and I dont have any coolant system set up. I read and watched the Oops videos and lot of random things around forums.

Threw in my 3flute bit and used the same speeds as the 7075 I have been cutting a lot of. Squared the bar up and dug in.

Next version is gonna be a bit heavier though. These only weighed up at 22g each, I was shooting for high 20 maybe low 30 gram range. Gonna leave some material on the next ones but these were FUN.
