The original drawing was done on a sheet of copier paper more rigid than the plastic in the links.

I actually am interested in the portal axles though. I'd stick them under the UMG10.

Let’s see where it goes.

Maybe Axial will realize they are becoming irrelevant and step up their game?

New axle designs, new plastic formulation perhaps, and who knows what other surprises may be in store.

Needless to say, their last several releases when lacking in originality for sure.

I along with other competitors at Axialfest 19 this past weekend saw the new buggy. It had portals alright. I saw clear headlight too. It reminded me of a cross of a Bomber front with a truggy back. It was in a lighted showdowbox in a dark room, no phones allowed in, and after one minute Axial guy shut the light off. I asked a question and he went silent. Corporate secret stuff for sure. Axial is trying to compete with Traxxas I suppose.

As it says on Harley's graphic, this may be the first appropriate use of factory portals.

Show me a stock portal that works, R1, no couldn’t steer or keep bearings in it. TRX, great chassis, only generic sport isn’t too high of COG. Redcat........ lot of gear issues.

So Axial might actually get this right, seeing as SSD and VP figured it out.

There’s a bunch of pics of real world vehicles on display at axialfest. We’re there any there that you would say this might be a replica of? Did they give a timeline?

Trx4 portals are probably the second best option out there. High altitude performance are top dog for sure. 55* steering and adjustable gearing is fantastic.

Redcat are garbage though for damned sure. I watched a guy get bound up and break his ring & pinion, portal gears and stub shaft in one fell swoop last weekend. It was a stock rig too.

Inspired by the Lasernut rig perhaps? I'm pretty sure they had it there stacked on the Bomberfab rig if I recall some instagram pics.

Agreed, but it seems with Horizon stepping in they are upping the quality, materials and fit/finish.

Very similar to the Yeti preview in 2014. Traxxas is kicking ass and taking names for sure, love my TRX-4!

Agrred on RC4WD R1 and Redcat. Love my TRX-4 Defender, some key cheap/free mods to lower CG (not a ton of brass lol), cut down pickup mod body, gotta drive it for what it is, swap bodies if you want really low CG, but dang mine works great!

The BigSquid R/C AxialFest pics showed the Lasernut rig, which would be an incredible scale release from Axial:

It's not styled after the lasernut/JHF style car. It's more a 2-seat promod style cage. More similar to Jake Hallenbacks Wraith II in size and proportion but the styling is not very similar IIRC.

I think they allowed me a longer look than most, so I'll return the favor and keep most of the things I saw in suspense until the Horizon guys start to spill the beans themselves.

Isn't the point in giving people like you a longer look allowing you to build hype by dropping details?

A little breadcrumb here or there does that really well

At this very moment in time, both of you are at the very same post count... but joined 10 years apart.

I'm hearing the Twilight Zone theme music in my head!

And, at least Harley said SOMETHING!
