Yep. That's what I did too. But, the CrawlMaster Expert 16T still is not doing a very good job of hillholding on steep angles. Not much different from how the Reedy performs at hillholding...even though the magnets appear to be superior in strength. FYI...I have a 9T pinion with the CM Expert 16T because it comes with two pairs of mounting holes on its can.

I got it out in the dirt for a quick scoot and while I did notice significant improvement it would still roll a bit on a hill, from what I’ve gathered this is not uncommon in 5 slots.

Going to give it a good few runs and see how it does on an extended session.

That’s good to know about the pinion with these cans

Got out with the Capra for a bit this weekend but as mentioned in the other thread it was cut short from a stripped servo horn.

Put together a video from some clips I got yesterday when we weren’t competing. Ran the tiny tire Jeep in a class 2 comp and I’ll have some clips from that later.

Here’s the video if you’d like to check it out

Got some more wheel time in with the Capra yesterday and was reminded of how fun it is to drive. I recently went back to the stock shocks on it as I’m going to use the 90mm shocks for a different project and wanted to see if there would be any regression with the longer shock. Thankfully I didn’t notice any negative side effects and obviously noticed more travel so I’m going to stick with the stock shocks for a while and just play with spring set ups a bit.

Anyway, here’s a video from a run yesterday with the local crew that has some Capra clips in it

I really love driving the Jeep. It’s a tough little bugger.

I always enjoy your videos. I still absolutely love that STIHL paint job!

What do you think of those new Voodoo tires?

Thanks Jato, I appreciate that. I’m with you on the STIHL p-wagon, I’m happy every time he brings it out. It’s game changer 4.2 and crawls as good as it looks.

The tires have been okay so far, nothing mind blowing. They’re still breaking in and I think they’ll be a good summer tire here as it starts to warm up eventually. No plans on changing them any time soon.

Finally got out for some extended wheel time with the Capra. Haven’t driven it much since installing the super shafty rear link riser and the TGH overdrive gears. This weekend it also got the ssd servo and dig servo mounts and some new rubber in the form of Jconcepts landmines.

Very happy with all of these changes. The link riser has seemed to help on climbs and keeps the rig pointed in a useful direction. The TGH gears are overdriving like crazy, it’s pretty drastic but didn’t keep me from being able to enjoy driving the rig. Considering putting a 27/8 ring and pinion in the rear axle to bring the ratios closer but am hesitant to gear it any faster than it already is.

The landmines really impressed me, I had high expectations from this but I noticed immediate improvement from the KLR/Ms that were on before. Currently running a 4.5” CI lil nova foam and it seems to be a good match. I’ll likely pick up another set when they come back in stock.

Here’s a couple Instagram clips for y’all and some pics

Great video Topher, those Landmines seem to be working well for you. Are you finding the rear link upriser makes a big difference?

Thank you!

There is noticeably more antisquat so I am happy with the part and would recommend it.

Great build and info on your Capra. One question, i had a hard time discerning which length of the drive shat goes where and the which length spline. Could you maybe make a little more sense of what is the correct way to put the shafts together?

More cool footage Topher. I’m in total agreement on the Landmines. I’ve got 2 packs in on mine now and I’m loving them. Honestly, they were pretty darn good straight away. I also installed the Supershafty link riser and some intheworksrc high clearance links. Need to get some more test n tune time in, bit really happy with the rig so far.

They are pretty darn good right out of the bag. You might have more wheel time on them than I do now. My motor came loose and I haven’t dove back in to fix it as I’m on the fence about swapping a revolver into it and the indecision has sidelined the goat. Soon though. Soon.

How are those links working out for ya?
