I really like Vitavon parts, they have all been excellent and in my opinion better than most other aftermarket parts for my Baja Rey at least. I have the trailing arms, front a-arms, transmission and they are of excellent quality. I finally managed to locate an out of production (Novak) 9 tooth 5mm mod 1 pinion for my Baja Rey and am installing the transmission this week. I will for sure be getting the transmission for the Capra as well, thankfully 9 tooth pinions in 32 pitch are easier to find!!

Oh Yeah, There transmission comes with a set of very Good Quality Hardware -- Please use them.

I used the Hardware included, they are Good Quality. Please use them.

And please DO NOT over-tighten (Gorilla Strength) each screw while Assembling. I did each screw a bit loose, turned the output shaft, and you can feel the bearings sit nice and gears aligned as housing is put together. The dig, 2 wheel and 4 wheel runs smooth - yes it really does!




Then gently tighten each screw, making sure there is no bind in 4WD, 2WD. and the Dig Works as you move dig shaft forward, mid, and rear. This must be bind free, as well. Then we can use threadlock, so no need to over-tighten. ENJOY!

NEXT: Installing in the Model then do a Quick Test.

REVIEW:

Managed to Assemble the Transmission. All internal Kit Components (Shafts and Gear) installed. Please pay attention to how pieces fir back together. Silly me had to spend over 30 minutes to figure-out how motor mount, internal gears, and cover. I should have just be guided by user manual.

I used the all included Hardware. Re-sued 2 flathead hex screws to secure dig cover. Patiently assemble & fasten all screws by hand tool, loosely. Use of Power Drivers NOT recommended. Turned F/R outputs to make bearings sit proper and gear mesh nicely, dig shaft smooth push and pull as well. I remember many years back that when the dig control shaft binded, it causing servo to burn - we were using standard size servo. The Good News, the Capra design is AWESOME! With the Capra VRD Aluminium Transmission Housing precision machined, gets 4WD + 2WD + Dig to work flawless and works from 9T-14T to fine tune vis-a-vis your personal preference for ESC and especially Motor Wind.

AGAIN: Please do not over-tighten each screw, as you assemble. Unlike the stock plastic, HD aluminium housing will not flex to allow the bearings to sit nicely, gears to mesh precisely, and shaft, especially the dig control shaft to properly align and move push and pull smoothly. Once all screws are fastened loosely, rotate. by hand front and rear outputs, and slide dig shaft forward, mid, and back to check that dig engages, 2WD and 4WD, as well.


NEXT: Yes I've installed it in the model, and will power-up to make sure everything works flawless, just to reconfirm. Give you guys an update! THANKS!
