Yea it just kinda works out. Today is the warmest day for the next week so I'll get the out and test how she does now with a bit of weight in all the right places.

Nice build thread! Thank you for your continued use of CI 6 Bolt Wheels It will be interesting to see if the Capra inspires more "scale" or "comp" style builds & competitions. I'm hoping for more of the comp style myself.

My local hobbytown asked me what they needed to stock for the growing crawler group in the area. My first answer was 1.9 and 2.2 CI foams and the second answer was CI 6 bolt wheels. I support the hell out of products that work for me so I have a giant collection of CI products.

I don't think there is a wrong use for the capra. It's the best bang for the buck to get into class 3 sorcca or sportsman comp. I'll be picking up a second one just to build a sporty for next year. A couple of the local guys saw me posting about this rig and picked them up for class 3, looks like I'll actually have to put in effort to win the points series next year.

Why do you like plastic glue on Wheels versus beadlocks of any sort? Just curious

Light weight.

Maximum clearance so there is never any issue fitting any knuckle I happen to run.

Cheap.

Slw compatible.

Never any headache with proline beads.

Because 1.9's suck.

Because beadlocks suck.

So these are 1.9 tires stretched over 2.2 Wheels? Why do beadlocks suck?

Yup, 1.9 stretched over 2.2's.

Beadlocks are heavy, even plastic are heavier than I like.

They don't clear all the knuckles I run without huge hubs.

Why complicate things?

Yes, beadlocks are heavier than plastic...but, from what I've noticed (again, the Capra is my first crawler), they also help to greatly lower the COG.

Sure but at the expense of rotational mass. If you're just crawling slowly it's fine but once you whack the throttle you're going to accelerate slower and slow down at a lower rate than if you were running a light weight setup.

I run a lot of power and light parts with a decent amount of knuckle weight in all of my rigs and it just flat works for me.

Understandable...except that, at least so far, we don't exactly have knuckle weights commercially available for the Capra. Plus, the machined aluminum wheels just look SOOOOOOOO much better...and cooler.

Knuckle weights are coming very soon.

I don't care much about looks, I want my junk to work.

So do I...lol...especially my friggin' DIG. But, if it can also look good while it's doing its thing, all the better. Wouldn't you agree?

The way I'm looking at it, the Capra (my first crawler) is about looks, performance, and capabilities (1/3 each). My second (RC4WD TF2-based) will be 65% looks, 25% capability, & 10% performance. The third (Vanquish VS4-10) will 40% performance, 40% capability, and 10% looks. Finally, the fourth (yes, I know, I originally said I'd only have 3,but I've reconsidered, for a total of 4) will be a "rock racer" (obviously, still undecided on what that one will be).

Yean I agree that why I like CI 6 bolt wheels. They look good sitting and they look great as they perform better than a beadlock.

Been burning up battery packs lately and decided I wanted a little more pep in its step. So I did the dosey doe with a few rigs and optimized them all. Capra got the 2700 holmes from the trx4, the class 3 toyzuki V3 got the old 2300 tekin from the capra and the 1900 tekin from the class 3 went in the trx4. So now they should all be a bit better over all.

It's good. The skid never really got caught on anything but the rod ends at the skid of the front links got caught on things until the hex portion finally ground itself off.

The TZ is 4s all the time and trx4 see 4s more often than not so it all works out. The capra has an 11 tooth pinion so a bit more pep isn't a bad thing. I'll gear up the trx4 if needed but it was a bit much in high gear due to the added gearing of the 2.2's it runs.

Yea I dunno but trx4 are the same thing and I wondered wtf it was all about then too.

I'd like to see traxxas make their rod ends with more than a 10* bend so they can be used on more applications. They're fawking tough compared to the old revo ends.
