After hours of forum scouring, I'm building up my Capra and thinking about shimming. Now I'm curious how far to go. Is there a reason to shim gears so they don't slide back and forth on shafts in the transmission or so the stub shafts and wheels don't have side-to-side play? They look to move almost 0.10" without any shimming. My trans doesn't bind when I tighten the cover, so I didn't have to shim that area. I figure you want the shim to only contact the inner or outer bearing race so it's not rubbing against a moving surface, but I haven't found any "best practices."
