Default Stub nose Capra

I'm a lover of rock buggies, so as you could imagine the release of a decent 1.9 buggy was an exciting thought for me. Typically I build my rigs from scratch so this is one of the few rigs I put together from a box and left it alone (mostly). However I have my complaints as usual. While it's a very nice kit with superb parts and great quality the proportions of it have bugged me from the beginning. The axles are awesome but too wide for the body, stock it's much too tall, and finally the nose is unnecessarily too long from windshield to grill, I think the designer may be compensating for something (jk) so with a little trimming and a couple grub screws I took about 1/2 inch out of the front tube work, I am much happier with the results, as for the axles I will leave them be for now but someday some narrower axles might find themselves under this thing, the height I'm still working on, right now I'm using proline powerstrokes at 90mm but I still want to go shorter.

That does look better without the overbite! Kinda reminded me of Otto from the Simpsons before. How did you reattach it after the cut, really long screw in the bottom?

Does that snubbie affect the range of motion being an axle mounted servo? I do like how it looks. Mine is still in the box.

The bottom tube work I just cut a half inch out then drilled down the center of the plastic tube, then reattached both pieces with a short 3mm grub screw like what you use in tie rod ends, the top section I just cut off the end then drilled a new hole down the center to attach the grill. The hood I cut off the end then shaped for new lines. The cross section under the hood I just attached it at the rear shock mount, There is no affect on the servo.

I like the look of the stub nose. It fits good with the short stubby rear end. Great job!

I will keep this in mind for my future Capra!

Excellent. This will be done to mine straight away. Along with flat panels and maybe a rear panel to box it in like a true tub.

Nice idea and it looks clean, you could probably pass it for stock if you didn't tell us.

Stock looks fine to me, but this looks great. Nice creativity on making it work with relative ease.

Thanks fellas. I finally got my capra painted and finished. I'm definitely liking it more than I thought I would. Later today I'll test it on the rocks.

I really like the stub-nose look of it...but, I think I'm going to leave that area alone for now. I'm already working on a minor mod to the front grill (headlights), and a major mod to the interior, so I just want to finish things up, and see how it runs...or crawls.

Got a few shots on the rocks. Crawls really well, just some minor torque twist that needs taken care of.

You are loosing a beadlock bolt in the first picture!

Really nice mod, I like this stub nose look. care to share if you managed to keep the fast release front hood mounts? By the pics looks like that feature was lost

I could have retained the quick release pin setup with simply making 2 more cuts and moving that section back, however I went for quick and simple and just used 2 screws down through the front cage work where the corners were gusseted.

What did you do to latch the hood since you removed the latches?
