Technically, I didn't work on the (2nd) Capra today...but, I did work on the wheels. Picked up some used Vanquish OMF 2.2 NXG1s, which just happened to have some used (broken in?) Pit Bull Rock Beast XLs attached. Honestly, I was only getting these for the wheels...but, if the tires are good, that's a nice 'plus'.

In disassembling the wheels, I discovered the foams were wet...so in the garbage they went. Also discovered that two of the tires have some minor tears between the tread lugs, but they might still be usable. If they're not, I was thinking about possibly pairing the Rock Beast XLs in the front, with the Pit Bull Growlers (which I already had, after swapping them for some Landmines on my first Capra) in the rear. Any thoughts on that idea? That is, IF I stick with 1.9 tires.

Anyway, after disassembling, and then cleaning (there was dirt/mud on the wheels & tires) everything, I broke out two new sets of wheel screws, primed & painted 48 of them black, swapped the original black beadlock rings for some new blue ones, and put them back together.
Since I wanted to see how they looked on some 1.9 tires, I mounted one of the Rock Beast XLs (without foam) onto one of the wheels. Since this Capra is being built for Class 3, I'm debating on whether to stick with the 1.9 tires, or move up to 2.2s. I should mention that, for this Capra, I'm not using the stock axles...I'm replacing them with the Vanquish Currie F9 SCX20.2 axles. So, any thoughts on whether to stick with the 1.9s...or "super-size" up, to the 2.2s?

Very nice. I'd love to get my hands on some OMFs. I'm running non-XL 2.2s on my Capra and I think it's a good height. Not a huge difference from a 4.75" 1.9. Plus 2.2 wheels are more likely to clear the portal boxes without massive hubs.

Well, this Capra won't be using the stock Axial axles...but, on the Vanquish axles I'll be running, I will be using the SSD portals. Which reminds me, I need to get them ordered.

I'm really liking those panels Barndog. Dig that Yeti influence out back.

Not the best for rocks probably but they should work good for general trailing.

Yesterday was the first time that I actually got my Capra up on some rocks for about an hour or so. Very impressive machine but being that this was only the 2nd time driving her, I need to get more familiar with the handling of the rig as well as with my driving. Will take some time and maybe some tweaking before I'm more comfortable with what she can and can't do.

Several things worth noting #1 Although the Flat Iron's don't outright suck, I know there's something out there that are better. Thinking on trying out some Hyrax after I free up some funds. Also, having the Flat Iron's caked with dry mud didn't help. At the very least I think I'll Simple Green them before next time out. #2 I need to install my brass Vitavon portal covers before the next run. There were plenty of places where some front end weight would've definitely helped keep the nose planted. #3 The dig unit had a little hum/ chatter to it when activated so I'll have to look into that at some point.

Other than those things, she crawled really well and felt very balanced front to back. I cringed each time she tumbled but the design and strength of the cage helped put me at ease. She brushes off the roll-overs like nothing and makes me feel like this is a durable rig in certain regards.

My son and I built our first Capra kit. Overall we did pretty good.

Chinese Wheels 1.9
Proline Hyrax 1.9 G8 Tires
16t Holmes Hobby Motor
Hobbywing 1080 ESC
EcoPower 110t Servo

Not too sure how to post pics.

Finished, and installed, the grill for my Class 3 Capra.Hope to finish the body panels today. And, yes, for those who might be overly-observant...and, before you ask...the cross-bars under the hood have been removed. Wondering why?

Thanks! And no U4, it's a sporty (Sportsman class) now.

Body is an Axial Hardline body for the good ol' AX10.
