Default Something a 10.2 couldn’t give me.

I’ve been watching the videos and reading everyone’s builds and I realized it was something I had to have. Possibly the only rc I’ve sold that I regret was my venom creeper. It is what got me into crawling and I sold it to make way for a savage flux. The way I’ve seen the Capra take to the rocks it reminds me of the 2.2 shafty trucks that were popular when I had a creeper. I started building the axles last night and everything went smooth. I’m in no hurry to finish it won’t get used for awhile our first major snowfall hit today in buffalo. I did figure out I have to get new hubs for my locked up wheels because they don’t clear the portals. I’ll have to take some measurements to see what hub I can use, maybe the ssd 6mm offset brake rotor. I know the 3mm ones won’t work because I have a set of those I tried too. I parted out one of my 10.2’s to make way for the Capra. Btw if anyone needs some 10.2 parts I still have a few things available. Check out the for sale section.

Good luck on the build. I think you'll be pleased.

If you're really broken up about that Venom Creeper, I have most of one laying around here.

Thanks. So far I definitely like what I’m seeing from the Capra. It would be cool to get another creeper but unfortunately I also know parts supply is almost nonexistent.

Well here it is. I thought it was going to take awhile to build, but everything went together so smoothly that it only took me about 7ish hours to build it. Just waiting on my supershafty servo mount and I have to get new hubs for my locked up wheels because they don’t clear the portals. I figured out that ssd 6mm offset rotor hubs will allow the wheels to clear as will vanquish 475 hubs, but the ssd look better and are cheaper. Also the lectron Pro 1800mah from common sense rc fits really well and allowed me to put my power switch for my hw1080 in the battery compartment.

SSD Assassin wheels do fit the portals, if you swap the M2.5 inner beadlock bolts for button head versions

Paint and all looks good, but your pictures are HUGE!

Sorry about the size. I added them from Tapatalk and I forgot it doesn’t let you pick the size when you add multiple pics. The paint turned out ok. It’s not that good close up. It was duratrax candy yellow and I backed it with some silver I had leftover from awhile ago. It caused it to get a crackled look to it. I just slapped some stickers on it and am going to run it as is, it will get beat up anyway. I ordered the 6mm offset ssd hubs and we will see how it turns out, but of I don’t like it I’ve considered getting a set of ssd wheels to fit better.

Got the ssd hub rotors in today. 6mm offset did the trick for my locked up wheels to clear the portals. They don’t add much width over the stock wheels. Threw the stock Servo mount on while I wait for my supershafty one to arrive. Took it out for a quick spin and it moves pretty good on a 35t and 3s. Just have to get a simple light controller to turn the lights on and off from the transmitter and it’s done. Definitely a cool rc.

Changed the previous pics so they wouldn’t be so huge.

Nice build, I'm really diggin the Capra, I've taken a break from RC for awhile, I think this might be the rig to get me motivated again.

New goods showed up for the Capra today along with a much needed color change. Definitely wasn’t happy with the first color I tried. Went back to my favorite color to use pactra lime ice. Waiting for j concepts land mines to show up to my lhs. I have a set of vanquish bully wheels waiting for them. Figured it would be a good combo to swap between the Capra and my 10.2 Still haven’t had a chance to run the Capra, but it should be fun once the weather breaks.

The green is awesome! Much better.

Those Lectron batteries are freaking expensive!

I agree the green turned out way better than the yellow. This pactra green is still my favorite color to paint with. As far as the price on the battery I think it was 30ish from my lhs. They had one and it fit in the space available so I just bought it. I also don’t like to change the connectors on my batteries and it came with the xt60.

Installed the ssd dig servo mounts and the hexes. The hexes give just a touch extra width, but enough to make the wheels have that extra bit of portal clearance. I also took the time while the trans and skid were out to install my Holmes crawl master sport motor. Definitely didn’t want to do that job twice.

How do you like the Crawlmaster motor?
