Default Capra RTR: Yes or No?

In order to effectively mock up body parts and a couple other things up my sleeve, it seems I am going to need at least a roller (kit) to simplify my life. I don't have time to assemble a kit (not sure how long it takes to put one together, 8 hrs?), nor do I have the desire to do so. It is worth the ~$100 to not have to mess with assembling a kit (I think). So for those in the know, is it the smart move for the RTR or figure out how to find time to put a kit together? They are the same, less electronics (are they any good at all?) and tires, right???? Any wisdom (application of knowledge, which I don't have) to share would be greatly appreciated. I found a kit I can get for under $300 if that matters, RTR for $~400. School is in session now, I am here to learn. Whatcha got??

Unless you want to put in your own electronics, I say go with the RTR. Do the math between the RTR VS the kit, with your electronics cost in mind. That should help you make the decision. If you do buy the RTR you can always replace the electronics as they go bad or upgrade along the way.

^ agreed. If you don’t want to take the time to build it I’d say it’s worthwhile. Being the same parts as the kit you’re still getting the same quality. The truck is light so the servo being 206oz/in may be okay for a while but you’ll likely want to upgrade that and the servo horn early on. I’m sure the rest of the electronics will be fine for a while.

Amain has one with box damage for $416.99. Not a bad deal.

Time is money. If you don't have the time to put into assembling the kit, $100 is cheap.

It took me just under 4 hours without assembling the shocks since I wasn't going to use them anyway.

There isn't $100 in value in the rtr vs kit unless you really don't have a but of time here & there to get it done over time.

I'm going RTR. Way better value in my opinion.

I will have something to use out of the box.
Can upgrade in stages or as needed.
Already has the good SS Links not plastic, the $15 Dig Servo, and Aluminum Shocks.
Decent looking panels.
Can use the wheels and tires on another rig, once upgraded.

I'm picking up a green RTR tomorrow

If you keep it stock then buy the rtr. If your upgrading then the rtr. Example gen8 axe edition. Just motor and esc alone worth $200+ reefs 422 servo another 100+ then throw in the flysky gt5 remote/receiver combo another 100$. Just that stuff is why I bought this one rtr... the kit was like 350? On the other hand building your rig will help you understand that truck that I find is SUPER valuable!!! I However like to work on them it's half if not more of the hobby. In the end you will work on it more than you drive it. An I'm ok with that again I enjoy it. Hope my rambling helps you out. GL

So to sum it up
Rtr depends on what you get with that truck
Kit depends on if you want to upgrade. (And I always upgrade everything I can)
