Will this 2.2 setup work?

Hello all! First off yes I have searched and I think I have read almost every thread in the Capra segment, learned some great info!! But I still have really found a good answer to me question. Sort of on a whim I picked up a band new Capra RTR last night at my local hobby town. I already know I need to go to a 2.2 setup just to be capable for my local area. I know 2.2 can be done I’ve seen some pictures and some videos. I’m planning on running the RCLIONS beadlocks and probably voodoo KLR or U4 tires. My main question is do I need a different hub or will the factory hub work? I’m really hoping I won’t need to do a hub extension to avoid rubbing as this things track is already mega wide. Thanks for any input I’m just looking to avoid returning wheels and tires for trial and error. Also any input on what type or weights and how heavy on these rigs??

You should be fine with just about any hub. I run 2.2" Hyrax (just under 5.5" actual height) with .225 hubs with trimmed steering stops (about 55° steering) with no rubbing. I did shave all the sidewall tread off, but a .350 (which seems to be the most common) would probably allow enough clearance.

I have RCLIONS hubs in 2.2 as well and the hubs that come with them work fine. Could actually go to a shorter hub if you wanted to reduce the track some - with the extra diameter of the 2.2's, clearance isn't an issue.
