Default New Capra build, need to figure out the Electronics.

We are looking to build our First Rig (Dad with 2 Girls).
We decided on the Capra as a base and might need some help with the electronics. Been doing a lot of reading on this site, reviews and youtube.
With that have come up with a game plan, maybe.
Any advise would be appreciated.

We are going to build for a fun rig for Me (and my 2 Girls), wanting to do Rock Crawling.

- Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster Pro 20T Brushed Motor, w/ HH BR-XL
- Graupner MZ-12 PRO Radio w/Receiver
(always liked the dual sticks as remote's and never felt Comfortable with the Pistol Type)
- Kinda lost on the Steering Servo,
- Spektrum RC SX107 Micro for the Dig
- Helios 3S 1500 mAh 45c Lipo

So if something seems way off, positive or negative just point it out.

Thanks

Your spec looks great overall. The HH BR-XL is a great ESC (I own 2). That said, you could save a good chunk of cash and space in the Capra’s limited real estate by using a HobbyWing 1080 ESC. I own several of these and if you poke around here on the forums you’ll find they are the go to ESC for brushed set ups. Great tune-ability via the included program card, waterproof and relatively small, adjustable BEC, and you can find them for around $45-50!

What’s your budget on the steering servo? A lot of guys will go with Ali Express, Amazon or Ebay units with some degree of success. 400oz units can be found for around $25-30. Against my better judgement, I did this once before. The servo lasted all of 30 mins. Needless to say, I wouldn’t do it again. The servo on a crawler is such an important component I wouldn’t skimp on it.

3BROS RC makes an awesome direct power unit with 500 plus ozs of torque at 11.1v. I like this unit for the Capra especially because you’re getting max voltage for torque to your servo, and you can keep the ESC BEC at 6v so you don’t fry the dig micro servo.

Savox 2290 if you want to stay top of the line with the servo.

Thanks for the suggestion of the HobbyWing 1080 ESC.
We are trying to build a quality rig, not want to go overboard, but I also have had plenty of bad luck with cheap Items from China. So don't mind spending a little, just it doesn't have to be the most expensive either.

Helios has the 3s 3700 that fits the battery tray perfect. I'm running the helios 3s 3500 which is a tight fit, (helios came out with the capra battery 2 days after i bough mine)
John holmes recommends a crawlmaster 16t. Currently im running a 1080 with a trailmaster 27t on a 11t pinion. Guys around me seem to have good luck with some jx servos.

The Hobbywing 1080 is a awesome ESC, I have three of them and they work great! It's a go to ESC for a lot of guys here on the forum and elsewhere.
