Question 4WS: Anyone done it, WITHOUT cutting up the Chassis?

Everything that I seen in the videos & read on these forums, says the rear steering servo will bang into the chassis during a crawl.

Solution is to cut away parts of the chassis, to prevent the top of the rear steering servo from hitting the chassis.

Has anyone tried another solution? These come to mind:
  1. Smaller servo (e.g. https://www.savoxusa.com/collections...el#description)
  2. 3rd party chassis

Thinking HH SHV800 as a rear (and front) steering servo, but would rather avoid surgery on a new Capra kit.

You can get away with just removing the lower bracing, but the servo can hit on full bump. When flexing one way or the other it will clear.

(This is on AR44, but its the same story on Capra axles)

So even a 1" high servo will still bang into the chassis? (Never seen a Capra in person.)

What about this chassis, by SuperShafty? https://supershafty.com/products/sup...ckage-upgrades

It looks like it has the clearance on rear, even for a 40mm high servo.

You could could just fit some longer rear links and a prop shaft, and stretch the wheelbase so the rear servo clears the cage... but that would probably negate much of the benefit of having 4WS in the first place of course.

ps. I imagine at some point Axial will release the 4WS cage parts as spares, so you could probably just buy those in future.

Check this fella out- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_wRq1mh_7w

He basically lets the cage sit on the servo, seems like it is a non-issue.

I wonder how much trouble it will be to swap out the different parts onto an already assembled capra. Looks to me like the cage sides and fuel cell are different. Not sure what else, would love to see a side by side comparison of the two cages. Been a while since I assembled my kit.
