| Been wondering about this one for a while. Can a 1.9 be a spare on a 2.2 rig? Does the spare have to have the same OD, offset and weight as the other wheels on the truck? Or does it just have to have a hex? Taken to its extremes, a foam TC tire could be considered "functional" although it doesn't look like much. Scale handicap if you run the spare on course? |

| if i remeber correctly from last year it had to be the same size rim (2.2 or 1.9). dont quote me but i think thats how it was.. i'm pretty sure that it has to be able to bolt on. |

| Last year Ben let me count a 1.9 wheel with a Tamiya BFG as a spare for Guido (2.2 wheels). My point was that even though it would suck to have to run it, it was functional. I could put it on and drive with it if I had to. Who in the real world carries a 44" tall spare tire on the trail. I was planning to do the same this year......I hope it doesn't change. |

| I would say functional just has to work. I think you should be shot if you put a TC tire on there for a spare though. |

on a 1:1, you run 44" tires and have a 36-38" spare, as griz said. if it looks like the others and bolts up and runs, we will let it slide, but I DO have the final say and I have been told I am prick at tech inspection.

| How's this for the spirit of the rules? Back in the late 60's and 70's many cars carried a collapsible spare tire and air can to conserve trunk space. Looked a lot like the foam TC wheel. If it was my event, I'd call BS at tech, but you gotta admit.... |

| Heck, I think '80's F-bodies still used the inflateables. ;) I need to look around for a collapsible 44 |

And tech inspection is based on how you are feeling that day? I thought you had a solid set of rules we could just look at and go by?
