Default Bomber back in service

Hi guys, i built my bomber kit some years ago and was using it more as a winter, snow basher over here.

After many problems and mods and repairs etc, i finally put it aside for a while and was using more my dedicated bashers instead.

Using a 3200kv hobbywing motor on 3s, i was able to break the stock front cross locker as well as a Hot racing front locker, finally converted the front to an open diff with spider gears.

Now i want to be more realistic and use the Bomber as a trail/crawler truck to go in the mountain with my kids and was wondering what front locker /shafts would you guys use?

Also, i would like to get some opinions on tire and foams for trail/crawling.

I got the CI Deuce wild single stage foams back in the days on stock tires, which were ok for my driving style, but those foams are too hard for crawling thats for sure.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Ordered a locked up RC FI spool today finally and will probably buy a new set of axial universals to go with it, mine have some little wear on them so i wont take any chances...

Didnt had much luck with my previous front lockers..

Tires and foams will be next.

Lol I've started welding the lockers holes then regrinding the space for the shafts to slip in the welds are harder than the lockers and going all the way to the bearing seat gives it more engagement with the shaft

You can try the vanquish locker but I don't know if there
any better

I have always thought the bomber would look awesome on trx4 portal axles and ether big 1.9s or small 2.2s
I like the potmetal axles those and some brass and you would have to try to tip it over lol ok maybe not
Also the 2 peed conversion would be really nice lol

Ill make sure the new axle shafts fits tight in the FI locker, mine were probably a bit loose in the HR locker and destroyed it after a couple of runs.....

For those of you upgrading the suspension rod ends using rpm, traxxas etc, what suspension links are you using since the stock ones require bent rod ends?

Seems like my front rod ends are shot on the RR10...

Went crawling with the Bomber for the first time today, climbing the mountain close to my house with the kids.

I was really impressed, this thing is almost unstoppable!

And m not running a crazy crawler setup.

Hobbywing 10BL120 esc
Hobbywing 3660 3200kv sensored motor on 3S
Savox servo
Stock BF baja kr2 tires with CI deuce wild foams
40% droop with stock shocks setup
Removed the spare tire.

Found the right esc settings on this forum with 100% drag brake etc..

First time ever crawling a RC.

It was a lot of fun

Nice. I like the foams I put in mine.

Crawler Innovations Double Deuce foams
Front: 5.5 Comp Cut Inner/Medium Outer/No thin final layer
Rear: 6.0 Comp Cut Inner/Medium Outer/All layers

They seems to crawl pretty good and still do good at high speeds in mild cornering but I have also updated the suspension setup to help. Definitely need to slow down for more aggressive turning. I am running 2.2 Pro Line Flat Irons on beadlocks.

The two speed trans is cool, not sure its necessary for a pure crawler or pure basher but since I like to go fast in the dirt like a desert racer and crawl, it is a very nice feature to have.

I dont feel the need for a 2 speed for my type of riding with this truck but ill definitely look at better tires than the stock ones.
