Default Silent Panda's Bomber

This is my first Axial and first scale type rig and first crawler. I am newly returning to hobby after racing buggies and trucks in the early/mid 90's.

The fun factor of this truck has fully surpassed my expectations. My use is bashing, crawling natural and man made terrain, hill climbing and running over my friends Wraiths and Bombers. My interest in this truck spurred the purchase of 3 Yetis, 1 Trophy Truck, 1 Bomber and 1 Wraith (so far!) in my circle of MTB friends. None of us had any idea how much fun crawling could be.

My setup:

$ Mods
HH 3300 Stubby,
HH BLE Pro
Savox 1286
Axial Servo horn
Vanquish steering links
Vanquish trailing arms
American Machine Works front upper and lower links and rear upper links
Axial sway bar
13T Pinon/Stock Spur
Wraith top damper bushings
30wt oil in the shocks - might move to 20wt...

Free Mods:
Spare removed
Cut tires
Thin washers used as spacers to tighten up the mount to ballend slop.

Near Term Mods:
BEC - want to run the servo at 7.4V
Fumi 8 spoke beadlocks - ordered
Super Swamper Xl or Rockbeast II
New paint job on new panels - some type of Bilstein livery
Some 3S power

I'm a big proponent of supporting you local hobby shop so if you are in Cincy check out Pit Row and Hamilton Hobbies. Only my links and wheels have been ordered online.

Pics and a vid from a early run before the links. Enjoy.

Awesome! You're lucky your buddies all jumped on board. When I showed my friends my wraith they all wanted one until I showed them prices. I'm still the only one with an RC car :(

More changes forthcoming...

Fumi 8 spoke beadlocks in Bronze - I usually don't order stuff from Hong Kong but I really like the look of this wheel.
XL Swampers
HH BEC
Robinson Slipper and steel spur
STRC motor mount
Losi 103mm shocks
Carter Fab panels - will be painted in a Bilstein livery.

Pics to come soon.

A couple of pics from a recent run with my Bomber (cut tires, no spare) and some of the other fools that jumped in the deep end with me.

Wheels, tires, BEC, RR slipped installed and added some MIP driveshafts...overkill for sure. The front requires trimming the radio box a little and a new front left upper link screw (shorter). Pics after the Carter panels arrive.

I also changed up the wiring during the BEC install. Used the 2 speed mount, part of the body posts from the spare parts trees and an old car rental membership card for the ESC/BEC mount. Everything fits under the interior.

The Fumi wheel and Swamper XL. The Fumi is double beadlock and 30mm wide across the rim w/o the lock rings. Using 6" DD foams with med outer foam and the thin strip removed. I wanted a beadlock wheel but did not want to mes with hubs. I feel like adding the hubs adds potential points of failure for the truck. Lots of fasteners to loosen...

Looks real nice, glad to see the recruitment of friends having fun. If you flip your motor down so that the pinion is on the bottom and pulls up into the spur. It will drop your motor cg like 1/2"

Mods complete. Latest round was...
Fumi 8 spoke beadlocks
XL Swampers
HH BEC
Robinson Slipper and steel spur
STRC motor mount
Losi 103mm shocks
Carter Fab panels with a Bilstein livery
MIP drive shafts
Axial universals
HH spools
Rolled the motor into a lower position - Thanks Trig!

Ran 22wt oil in the Losi dampers with stock springs. I love the way it crawls and the bashing was excellent. Running the servo at 7.4V worked wonders for the steering power and stopped the brownout glitching. The spools assembled with no drama and eliminated the slop from the stock iron cross lockers. The MIP parts are MIP parts. They assembled well and are super burly. The Super Swampers on the wide (30mm bead to bead) Fumi wheels were a HUGE step up from the stock tires. I am totally happy with the most recent round of mods.

A few pics...didn't pull out the big camera this time...I was having too much fun

Pic of the hubs and steering relocation - need to make a new crossover...I was stuck in a hotel room for work and away from my shop. I just bent the Vanquish part to get me out on the trail.
