Default Jayn Bomber Build

I think the building will finally start this weekend.

Going to be a different than some others. Trying to keep the costs down a little, and want to be stable at speed. Any input is welcome, this is just my 2nd build. My Yeti XL turned out pretty good though…

EDIT: This lost it's way and got expensive and cool. Updated final build below:

Bardog Panels
Aluminum Chubs and Knuckles
Beef Tubes
Axial Universals
GCM Diff Cups
HPI Diff gears
500K Front Diff Fluid
1M Rear Diff Fluid
DLux Front and Rear Trusses
Savox SW-1210sg
Full VP links and arms
Red Wraith shocks
Boom Racing 105MM for Dual rear shocks
MMX and Holmes Puller Pro
SSD Tranny with all Metal Gears and R/R Slipper
DMG Tranny plate
MIP Drive Shafts
Spektrum DX3E

Nothing wrong with keeping cost down, some of us have more important things to spend money on then toy trucks. Parts list looks decent.

Cheers,

Looking forward to the completed build. Curious about stretching the 1.9's onto 2.2's. Was this just for a specific size or something else?

Wanted to try this for 2 reasons.

Aesthetics. I like the look with less sidewall.

Turning. I don't do any real crawling, mostly will be bombing around the golf course that I live on. On my Yeti I get so much roll of the sidewall. Hoping this is better. I may be 100% wrong. (But I do like the way they look...)

I like the look of your wheel/tire combo. How hard was it to stretch the 1.9 to fit?

How'd the front truss work out for ya? Been hearing mixed reviews.

On these wheels it was quite easy. A little spit and elbow grease. I could see how it may be a challenge on others.

I have not tackled the truss yet. Hopefully tonight.

Made a little progress last night.

SSD trans is a fine bit of kit. That is a Yeti R/R slipper on the AX31149 Spawn style slipper shaft.

Beef tubes
Alum diff cup
HD gears
HPI diff
1M oil (if it runs out I will lock it up or go earplugs)
STRC bearing caps
Dlux truss
Generic lockouts
Avid bearings

Liking your upgrades. Curious about the Alum diff and gears. For the gears are you using HPI HPI86014 HPI Racing Differential Bevel Gear Set (10T/13T) [HPI86014] | Parts - AMain Performance Hobbies - AMain Performance Hobbies

What Diff housing is that from?

Yes I am using the HPI gears.

GCM Racing made the diff cups. Really nice... I found a pair on eBay and snatched them up. Here is the website:

Default Jayn Bomber Build

Made some good snow day progress. Axles went together well. Everything else is a mock up so things are loose and I need some different fasteners.

Need to get links sorted out. The DLux trusses change things.

I am struggling a bit so suggestions and help are welcomed.

Those are VP Yeti rears. The Revo straight Ends that were on them first really bound up. Pictures show Axial bent ends as a temporary attempt to hold things together.
Pix I see of the DLux set up have an extra ball centering the link that is captured above the pumpkin. That causes everything to bind here.

I was going to run the Wraith kit links up front. I didn't get those installed as I didn't have the right grub screws or rod ends. What rod ends do I want that take the 3mm screw?

Or do I just go fill a cart at DLux and move on?

Thanks!

Got it to mockup roller status last night. I looks pretty good, but I definitely have some suspension issues to work out.

The shocks are too short, the Swaybar doesn't cut it. The upper front links are too short...

With those 1.9s I think you really need shorter trailing arms. You're definitely going to have ground clearance issues.

Agreed.

Those are my LCG set up... I have some 2.2 Rock Beast 2s for clearance!

Ah, I see. Your build looks great. You've got a nice pile of parts there.
