I worked with Bill closely with the original design of the BGR Bomber chassis, and with the build of my BGR Bomber chassis. I worked as close with him as I could, with me being in Michigan and Bill residing in California!

I learned a lot from Bill during the design process, building the fixtures, and during my chassis build. I have to give a big shout out to Bill for being super patient with me, and explaining some of the processes with doing a chassis build from start to finish!

Thank you Bill for being patient with me, and taking the time to explain things to me! I really appreciate it, brotha!!

So.... I received my custom BGR Bomber chassis yesterday! I couldn't get home from work quick enough, to open the box and check it out!!
The numerous pictures that Bill sent me does not do this chassis justice!! This chassis is a piece of aluminum artwork!! I can not say enough about the quality of Bill's work!! I'm a huge BGR fan!!

The first thing I'm gonna start with is building the front and rear VP Currie axles. I'm not gonna bore everyone with piece by piece pics. I will post pics of the finished product.
Time to get busy!!

I doesn't get any prettier than that. Jealous isn't a strong enough word for the emotion I'm enduring right now. For the ESC and motor I have to vote Mamba Monster X and Holmes 540XL.

Thank you! I agree 100%!! It's a piece of aluminum artwork!! It looks awesome, just sitting on the shelf!!
I have a couple different set-ups I'm considering. I'm a little partial to Tekin, so I'm considering the RSX esc and the Tekin ROC 412 3100kv, or a RX8 and a Pro 4 HD 3000kv motor.
I have also been looking at the HH BLE esc and either the Puller Pro Standard 3500kv, or the Puller Pro XL 3500kv. I would like to have a esc with a smaller footprint, so the RSX and HH BLE are a bit smaller than the RX8.

Oh crap!! I'm glad you reminded me! I was going to weigh it last night and got busy with other stuff!

25.3 oz. That's the bare chassis - no skid, no body panels.

With a few parts, some Lucas Red "N" Tacky, four Avid RC bearings, and a little water and sunlight...
We know have an assembled Currie centered pumpkin rear axle!!

Assembling the Currie rear axle took me a little longer than I was expecting. I had a small issue with the VP centered pumpkin axle shafts fitting into the Locked Up RC FI spool. I know the FI spools are tight to eliminate slop in the axle shafts. I used a small hobby file and filed the flats on the axle shafts a tiny bit. I smeared a tiny dot of grease on the flats of the axle shafts, and was able to get them in the FI spool!

Gonna call it a night. Gotta head over to my LHS tomorrow morning to pick up a couple items and then I'll be back at it!

Stay tuned...

You and I have a similar parts bin, I bet you need screws to mount the shocks to the trailing arms...I only did the rear too, it take a fair bit of time to get all the parts bags open, and then assembling everything, I had to take a 30min break.

I have all of my hardware already. The Team KNK stainless hardware kit for the Bomber has everything I need.
Actually going to my LHS for a Bomber interior panel and a RC4WD aluminum fuel cell.

Thats a sweet looking cage......are you leaving it raw or are thoughts of a anonized color rolling around your brain ? I was thinking a Vanquish blue or even a Vanquish green color would really set it off. But the raw aluminum will stand out too. Look forward to this build. Subscribed !

Very nice. My wallet hurt when I saw the parts list. Is this a pleasure rig or a racer? Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

It's a pleasure rig. I tend to way over build my rigs!! LOL!! But.... I kinda believe in the "Buy once and cry once" saying!

Yes, my wallet took a little beating!! Fortunately, I sold a couple other rigs that I had to help fund it! LOL!!

Thanks for the kind words!

I got the front Currie axle assembled tonight! Well... It's about 99% assembled. I still have to add the VP tie rod and drag link.

I'm really liking the VP scale knuckles and C-hubs! They look really nice when there all assembled on the axle.

I'm excited and curious to try out the MKS DS1220 servo. I've read a lot of good things about MKS servos. I've always been a big fan of Hitec servos, but I wanted to try something different on this build. The price was really good on the MKS DS1220! Here are the specs on the MKS DS1220 if you wanna check them out.
MKS Servos USA :: Car Servo :: DS1220 (0.14 sec/60° - 30.4 kg-cm (422 oz/in) @6.6V)

I'm using the DCW Wraith DeWanger servo plate. It moves the servo back about 1/4". I wanted to the servo back a little so it wouldn't interfere with the 2" Rigid light bar that mounts behind the front bumper on the chassis.

This is probably all I will get done tonight. I'm gonna hang out with the family for a bit. I've kinda neglected them the last couple of days, since working on this build.

Next up..... VP links, and trailing arm assembly and install.
