Throw a hw1080 in there for $40 and it will work a lot better. For crawling you should be fine.
I'm actually pretty surprised at the performance bump with brushless. On 3s it's pretty much ridiculous. I went back to 2s and it's still fast enough.
I think I'm one down on the pinion, maybe stock.

Its a fun rig for bashing...

Or, if you use Google Photos, the link in my sig (no affiliation) will create an embeddable link. It takes some steps, and changing the default resolution is recommended, but works great if you use Google Photos and don't want to create a separate photo hosting account.

Finally bought me Bomber. Found a good deal on a trading platform. Not even a scratch and lots of additional stuff.
There was a Vanguard combo installed which I changed for a 21T HH and a 1080.
Probably going to try out the new 12T or the 3300kv Stubby I have in my SCX2.

After taking it apart, I took a very old bashed Honcho and played around with it. Trying some stuff out. Always like the 1.9 Bombers, but I will see. Thinking about putting an SR5 Cab on it.

Such a cool platform

That looks great!
How big is the surface for attaching the ESC (meaning: will an RX4 fit)?
Would you be willing to share the file?

Off the top of my head, I wanna say 50mm x 30mm or so. Probably not big enough for an RX4. I could probably elevate the plate above the transmission and expand it a bit more...

Took all the shocks off and changed the fluid in the fronts to 10 wt and topped off the rear inner sprung shocks with 30 wt and added 10 wt to the outer bypass shocks. Seems to be much better with simple drop test. I had zero compression on the front with the 30 wt and too much on the rear.

I have a drop test slo-mo video but Flickr and Imgur won't up load it for some reason.

Edit, let's see if this works:

After:

Yeah. It's got a Mamba X and Castle Slate 2850 kV ESC/Motor in it. I took it out in the front yard and it seems to do pretty good. It jumps curbs great, lol. It's not ridiculously fast but fast enough. It still crawls reasonably too.

Finally got my Bomber in a driveable state. Still need to organize the wiring/electronics box.

I added the Dinky RC Bomber box too. Could have used a bit more sanding and fill ing but I'm pretty happy with it for now.

Got #2 up and running. About 95% finished, a few minor things to button up.

I received it in the mail the other day and finally took it out of the box yesterday and ran it for a few minutes then brought it back inside and started hacking up the f100 body

Pulled the electronics and wheels/tyres and put it back on the shelf.
Been sick of mine lately, it just will not hold for more than a lipo of driving without breaking.

I went all summer plus half winter without any issue or break except a lost servo screw. That was my fault for not using locktite.

You need to upgrade a few key parts and drive it like a scale truck.
It's not a Tekno basher

Gave me Bomber a spring tuneup... front Beef Tubes, OD/UD gears, changed from XD piggyback’s to XD diaphragm’s, WP 1080, Titan 21T (12T pinion for now), ProLine light bars, lost my brass wheel weights... I wish Vanquish would buy some more CNC machine cause there knuckle weights and just about everything else they make is out of stock. Broke several hexes and an axle outer shaft so figured I better loose the rotating weight. Removed my BEC for now and have the WP 1080 set on 7.4, hopefully it doesn’t fry my stock Tactic receiver although I have been looking for a reason to get a DX5 pro Also added some front limit straps.
