What I didn’t do to my Bomber today: Take it for its maiden voyage after its tuneup because despite testing motor rotation before soldering it in I still managed to connect it backwards Guess it’s coming apart... again

Installed a Holmes Hobbies servo, Wertymade front electronic mounting plate and vanquish motor mount.

Flip the switch on the Rx for throttle.

RTR with Axial roll bar and 2S NiMh batteries - all the running gear is as it came from the box except for 2-speed transfer box.

Fitted a 20T Axial motor to it.
Pinion is 12T Spur is 56T

It fair zips along now but low range in the 2-speed is necessary for any tricky climbing. Want to see how it behaved on loose surfaces at speed, there is a new road construction site nearby which should be worth exploring.

Previously it was stock 35T
Pinion 13T Spur 56T
Was reasonably fast, faster than I could walk..

Technically work from the last day and a half seeing that’s when I got it in the mail but- filed front diff with epoxy to get by until my incision spool is here, installed hobby wing 1080, titan 21t 550, made correct length links for vanquish sway bar previous owner installed, replaced the bfg all terrains with tsl’s, fixed the cracked front bar/bumper and paint-lots of paint

Not a great result with this setup using 20T motor, even changing to 13 / 64 it lacked low-speed torque in high range and had quite peaky performance making it tricky to drive slowly. The 35T is going back in with 13 / 56 gearing as before.

You need to try a 550 21T motor and a hobbywing 1080 ESC.
And a 13T pinion is too high to crawl. Stock is 12T with the 64T spur. I suggest dropping to 11T for low speed control.
It really wakes up the bomber

It's got the two-speed transfer box too...

Thank you for the suggestion, may try it in the future!

I’ve got a 4068 sensorless and a big SCT ESC with an open SMT diff in the front. No crawling, but damn it rips and does some sweet donuts.

Changed the motor...

I did experiment with a 21T but it lacks low-end torque even with 13/64 gearing so I've reverted to the 35T motor with 13/56 pinion/spur gearing.

The 550 21t lacks low end torque? What actually happens?

Slows and then stalls - like the battery is almost flat.
It is OK on the 35T motor - presumably because it makes more torque at lower speeds.

I've not persevered with going fast because just over walking pace is fine by me. Speed results in broken bits !

Well the 550 should make a lot of torque and work perfectly.

Maybe the ESC is weak or very old?
It sounds like the 550 isn't getting enough power

Okay so I bought a used Bomber off of CL. Original owner had built it from the stock kit, 35T motor, with an Axial ESC (model number escapes me right now), stock otherwise. For some reason they were running no foams in the front tires. So for today, I installed the stock foams in one set of tires, and rotated the tires with the worn foams to the front. Not ideal, but better than before. I'm going to run it this way for a week or two, and see how I like it before I make any more changes. I think Beef tubes are probably my next step though (open to suggestions however).

This has been asked countless times and it's much easier for you to read through the bomber forum rather than asking again.
Also this post is not made for long cascades of replies.
I suggest you head to the bomber section and start digging.

Confused on what question I asked, also this is the Bomber subforum so..... ?

Anyway dropped a 20T motor in today just to see how it ran. Overall fun, but probably not going to stay that way. Beef tubes on order.

I was just saying this specific post is to show things that you've done to your bomber. Just like that motor you dropped in.

If you want a long discussion with people suggestions and help about many things, you can make a new post in the subforum.
