Nice repurposing! I'd round the corners off on the mounts you made, they'll be less likely to catch on something during a tumble...

Also - that's one heck of a thin aluminum servo horn! No wonder it bent! Surprised it bent rather than broke...

Maybe it's a steel alloy metal and not aluminium?

I have rounded off the edges a bit, also I had a spare servo horn at home so all is good.

The servo horn was very thin indeed, the one on it now looks a bit tougher, but maybe one day I should invest in a VP one.

I have geared up to 14/64 with the Holmes Trailmaster Sport 550 21t motor, lets see if I have any heat issues today, or if it decides to blow up the stock AE5 ESC.

Grab a hobbywing 1080, much better and you can fine tune the crawling or rock racing abilities

Nothing broken today

Motor gets hot, but a mix of crawling, bashing and trailing and I could still touch it for a good few seconds after a solid 40 mins. I wouldn't go above 14t on this motor, but speed is good for my needs until I go brushless one day.

I'm not a video guy at all, but here's a small clip.

What shock oil weight are you using?
It looks very "spring-y"

One day I'll invest in some proline pro-spec shocks like I had on my old bomber. I had those dialed in nicely.

Stock shocks, 20wt front, 30wt rear.

Look at the gmade XDs, they are a bigger bore than the stock kings and much smoother.

At 25$ per pair it's very affordable

The only negative is the lack of spring choices.

That is a good price, shame about springs though.

The Prolines are excellent and the spring set is well worth the investment, as I said I had my previous bomber set up quite nicely

Well this is unexpected, after 3 short runs...

Also I installed the stainless axle tubes from Xtraspeed today, along with swapping a lot of the axle screws out to stainless ones.

I see more and more reports of broken Vanquish and Incision parts these days.

Maybe they changed their supplier of materials to cut costs?

Yeah that's not good. It shouldn't have bent that easily. Contact Vanquish and they should stand good for it. Of course you might have to pay shipping across the pond so it might not be worth it. Or maybe they can hook you up from a VP distributor in your country if one exists.

They are said to be outsourcing more these days which they admit on some parts. I don't know if links are one of those.

I've had them replace a part for me before, and it seems from the message they sent me yesterday that they will be sending me a new link

I ordered a trailmaster pro 3300kv for this, I'm slightly worried that it is only a 2-pole motor, and maybe I should have saved up and gone for a Pro4 HD or Roc412...

I'm hoping it'll be ok, again I don't even have the money for an ESC for it yet anyway so it'll stay in my parts box for now.

Just some flex shots, when RC meets Audio

When going brushless, there is really only 1 option and it's the Mamba X / puller pro or castle / roc412.

I don't think i saw 1 bomber on this forum with a 2-pole...

But i know John says his trailmaster is the best 2-pole for crawlers so maybe it will work.

As i'll be going brushless (either puller pro 3500kv or Puller Pro R 4100kv) I have decided on Deuces Wild 2.2 Tall foams, as the Double Deuce 5.5 still fold over quite a bit when turning. Also my rig is fairly heavy, and will only get heavier as time goes by.

Still running well on 3s on the 21t Holmes 550 motor geared 14/64

It is better running single stage foams, tyres don't fold over as much when going fast, and it still crawls pretty well. Tyres are also wearing in nicely, the compound is pretty soft and sticky

I used to put 6.0” double deuce foams in my 2.2 rock beasteses, 5.5 is too small for a 2.2 growler.
