Default Will a 1231sg case fit a 1230sg?

Hi guys, I'm too broke atm to afford a holmes BLS servo, I just got the mamba x sct combo and I love it, but I have broken like 3 1230sg servo cases so far... Will a 1231sg case fit a 1230sg, cause for some reason 1230sg cases are in short supply.

Well its not that I'm broke, I'm trying to save money lol

Thanks guys!

3 broken savox is most likely higher $$ than a Holmes shv500v2

I believe so, I still but the cases when i can find them, I've had good luck with roughing the case up with sand paper, and then a thin coat of gorilla glue epoxy or some high strength epoxy. Held up to some serious abuse, hope it helps

How the hell do you guys break a servo case ?

I mean I ran my bomber for a year and a half on the Holmes shv500v2 and there is not even a scratch on it. No gear slop or any noise inside. I never opened it to grease it either.

The body, the bumpers and the axles should protect the servo from damage no?

I've got a used 1230sg that came with broken mounts and I figure $7 is pretty cheap for the replacement end cases with screws. My LHS guy says I should run the servo with the rubber spacers in the mounting holes on the servo case. Tighten them down til just snug, not tight. They are provided for a reason. Takes some of the shock to protect the case. Sounds logical so that's the way I've always mounted servos. Who knows . . . . . . . . . might be why I've never broken one.

And, as Jboucher says, how do you guys break a servo case? This is the first broken one I've ever had and it wasn't even me who broke it.

Breaking the servo "ears" or mount tabs is different than the casing.

To stop breaking ears, just get the VP aluminum servo mount and the VP servo clamps.
Never worry again

The Holmes servos have a full alloy case, the 1230sg doesn’t, granted it has an aluminum heat sink but not aluminum mounting cases...

Funny I actually broke the ears off the case faster with the rubber spacers
The gears are fine another time I split the case down the middle

Direct drive can be tough on servos

Yes I currently have a 1231 case top on a 1230 in my trx4 because I couldn't get the 1230 top either. Works fine, has been fine for almost two years. I ordered 2 in case I had this issue again, but since I swapped away from using it axle mount I've had zero issue. I would order the case top but no plan on using it on the bomber anymore, get yourself a metal case holmes or promodeler, that's what I did.

Thanks man, I plan on transferring that 1230sg over to a traxxas trx4 sport kit I’m gonna get, had that savox 1230sg for like 3 years so far 😂😯

Tough choice between the savox 1283sg and a Holmes unit cause if you possibly ever broke a 1283sg alloy case you could get a new one the Holmes no lol... I know there is a warranty on the Holmes but it’s jist one of those what if things ...

I only have that problem when going fast and hitting something, something has to give, haven't broken or stripped any gears, the plastic ends up splitting where the center pin rides in the little brass bushing. Just picked up a black edition, very nice, hh servos are too notch as well
