Exclamation First test run FAIL

Hey guys,
Just got my brand new bomber rtr home and charged up the battery.
Turned on the transmitter
Got the battery installed

It connected fine so I tested steering servo, all good.

Give it throttle and it drove 2' then stopped and hear a gear slipping sound.

So I shut it down and now what?????
Sound is coming from transmission area.

This is my first ever real rc and not a good first experience..

It's literally been out of the box for a few hours.
Anybody been through this??

Thanks

Well only one way to find out, buy some hex drivers and open it up

I have the bomber kit so all the gears are HD metal.
Does the RTR have any plastic gear ?

While you have it opened, regrease the gears from the diffs and transmission.

Could be a bad bearing in the transmission, the slipper too loose or a broken gear.

Need to open it up

It'll just be the slipper clutch that needs to have the nut tightened up.
No real need to open up the diffs or transmission I wouldn't think if it's brand new. Or course if you have a few free hours you could pull apart the diffs and trans and grease the gears etc just don't grease the pinion and spur gear.

There ya go. Tighten a grub screw. Job done. Slipper should be tightened fully and then maybe back it off 1/2 a turn.

Should I be loctiting on the pinion?

And just to be clear the slipper clutch nut is on the center of the large gear and has the spring under it correct?

Blue loctite on pinion grub screw.
And yes, that nut.
