Default Brushed motor for dedicated crawler / trail rig?

I am running my bomber as a dedicated crawler as well as trail rig to take hiking in rocky areas. As such I need good run time. I seem to see everyone going for low turn motors these days along with 3s, but even the stock setup on 3s seems too fast. Is there some benefit to using low turn motors with low gearing, or is there just a lot more basher types these days thanks to all the rock racers being produced?

I've been around since we had no choice but to make our own rigs from tlt axles and my last rig ran a 55t motor and weighed 8lbs. I have been out of the crawling scene for several years with an occasional brief comeback here and there.

From what I understand higher turn brushed motors are more efficient, but also I hear they can only be geared so high before cogging. Is there anyone else out there that uses their bombe4 like I plan to that could make some suggestions?

Don't tell me to get a 2 speed tranny. I can't get away with spending that much after spending this much already. The wife would not take it well....

I like HH 30 turn motor with a gear ratio of 6.5 to 1. Spur 87 pinion 13 for 48 pitch.
