Man, that's coming along nicely! The detailing with the paint pen and the wheel centers is an inspired touch - so cool even without the panels painted yet. I, too was thinking of using the fact that so many parts have a gold color to try a special theme. Interested in seeing how yours turns out, especially your body color choice! I hope to perhaps add a bit of red and do away with all of the blue. Then pick another color for the body, wondering about a dark or olive green. Or tan. Or black. Or charcoal. Or grey. Or painted/unpainted aluminum body panels... (You get the picture!) Thanks for posting these detailed build shots. |

Looks really good with the paint! I feel like the side panels HAVE to be gold... lol. Lucky you to have both the new Axial kits! I'm waiting for the SCX10 2 to come back in stock at tower and then I'll be following in your footsteps!

What type of paint did you use? Looks like, you didn't need to prime the wheels? | |

Thanks for the compliments guys. The gold parts in the kit aren't as overbearing as I expected from online pics but my mind was made up with the gold. The scx2 isn't mine unfortunately, a friend of mine do most our stuff @ my place so we built his over the last few weeks. The scx2 needs paint and is ready for the maiden voyage. Might even get that voyage tomorrow @ the Vasquez gtg. Photocycler, I didn't prime the wheels, just cleaned them real good before painting I'm using tamiya paint, plastic for wheels and poly for the panels. I did a test run with the poly paint and need something different becaus it doesn't match very well. It's more yellow than gold.

Not sure if I have white but will check. I backed with black thinking that would darken it but that didn't work.haha Wait, where am I? |

You could try Tamiya Champagne Gold. It's less yellow.

Made a panel out of lexan for mock up and paint matching purposes. It's not a final draft but pretty close. Hooray for the weekend!! |

My paint issues have put my build into a wall. Still doing some color mix testing and haven't found the champagne gold that Johnny recommended anywhere local either. I'm going to see how the plastic paint adheres to the lexan and flexes. I don't expect great results but can flip my design to minimize the amount of gold I need. Took a couple days away to go crawl and work on a friends build but back @ it now. My HH motor and monster X showed up yesterday so I tore those things open, pulled the cage and @ least got the motor mounted up.

Definitely plenty of power. Was Gna go 2200 but something told me to go with the 2700. What's the biggest concern with using a plastic tamiya on the lexan? Not adhering to it, cracking? I feel like the panels won't flex nearly as much as a regular body would. Did a test panel with the paint I used on the wheels and backed it with poly paint.
