Re: Imaguy Make Bomber Kit Well, surprise surprise, I took zero photos of the actual build. We've all seen how these Bombers go together, and aside from one part number being wrong and me having to guess at the length of rod end, this build went together flawlessly. Since I already took my first RTR Bomber and made that into a Cwalrer, I needed to make one for going fast and Ultra fouring around things. There's going to be a few fast Bombers at Axialfest, so I figured, why not go for the gusto. Powering this thingy is the Holmes combo of the TrailMaster BLE Pro and Puller Pro BL 540 2700kv. Gobs of power, great low end thanks to the sensored motor and Waterproof. Overkill for the casual Bomber, but if you want to go fast, this is the setup. Sure, you can go for more power, but I like to also control my vehicle. Super happy with the punch. To aid in that control, I decided to give Holmes' new SHV500 Servo a go. WOAH. Let me say that again, WOAH. Brushless, and able to be powered directly from a 3S battery (NO, YOU DON'T NEED A BEC - I love saying that) are two extremely competitive reasons to give this servo a try. The price is not unreasonable either for the amount of torque and speed. For comps and hardcore trucks, I'll probably never use anything else. Kudos, John, this is an amazing product. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...922/iGVJzE.jpg SuperShafty Trailing Arms were a must. I used these on the Cwalrer Bomber, and knew how great they were, so it was a no brainer. Another excellent product from an excellent person. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...923/GmiiOe.jpg Vanquish OMF wheels and Scale Wraith hubs make it stronger. Essentially still a stock truck, just a bit of strength where I know it'll need it most. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/4IOfSM.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...924/58Mrev.jpg And here it is all painted up and ready to go for Axialfest. I wanted to give the paintjob some special treatment for the special event, so I decided to paint an homage to the beautiful scenery of Cisco Grove. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/VFE5bn.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...922/wpE7wb.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...922/r4rPdn.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...923/LpwDCZ.jpg A few extra elements to really give it a shot of realism - I painted the drivers on the outside, dulled it all down, added some braided hose, stickers and paint to the shock reservoirs, and a fuel filler cap - idea of that courtesy of bilinvic. Some smart thinking there, fellah. I'll grab more photos of it in the wild later this week/next weekend. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...923/P1hALU.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/IcvhEV.jpg Thanks for watching it come together, I'm really excited to get it outside! |
Re: Imaguy Make Bomber Kit It's an honour to be given a shout out in one of your threads...thanxs. The paint scheme is great, very original. Please give us an honest review of the 12v HH servo when you are done with Axialfest....wish I could be there too. |

Re: Imaguy Make Bomber Kit Looks great as always, really like the paint job! |
Re: Imaguy Make Bomber Kit The most awesome Bomber build using only broken english... Twelve thumbs up!!! |
Re: Imaguy Make Bomber Kit Thanks to the nice guys (and Harley) at Vanquish, I was part of the testing program for their new VXD Universals for the AR60 and all of it's Vanquish versions. These are an all-new design and are extremely robust. Not for your typical enthusiast, these were designed with Ultra 4 and abusive driving. A new locker is included and rather than a two spline, this is four splines to increase surface area and reduce failure. 5mm shafts means nut tightening is a little more difficult on a SLW hub (for me anyway, as all my drivers are pretty thick) but the added strength is greatly appreciated. No more pins to lose either. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/922/7IQhAC.jpg Bottom image stolen from Michael Pham, because I was dumb and forgot to grab a shot of them prior to install. They're good. If you are hard on your truck, or race it, or heck, do anything with it, get these when they come out. |
Re: Imaguy Make Bomber Kit WOW... nice |
Re: Imaguy Make Bomber Kit IN. About time something beefier comes out. Hows the engagement with an f9 housing though? |

Re: Imaguy Make Bomber Kit I'll be interested to see more about these driveshafts, but like Johnny just said, looks like your tire sprung a leak there . Here's a good video of the beta versions that got me interested: https://www.instagram.com/p/BLKsYPvge1w |

Re: Imaguy Make Bomber Kit Time to change it up. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800...922/NKieow.jpg I used this truck in the AxialFest Scale Ultra 6k event and after a very nice wrap to update it for 2017 (courtesy of my friends at SOR) I decided it needed a new look (again) for next year. I found an Axial RAM Powerwagon body that I had coated in liquid mask like, 6 months ago and gave it a paint job and some trimming to fit the Bomber. I think it looks pretty neat. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800...923/ZJe42w.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800...924/dZnow6.jpg And out in the wild: http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800...924/OvEvCR.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800...923/IRuftw.jpg |
