Default Bomber battery tray wont fit new Lipo battery

Hello,

Just bought two Turnigy 5000mA 30C Lipo batteries for my Bomber but unforturnately these batteries wont fit into the battery tray due to the massive cables (8AWG).

I tried to extend the battery tray using two screens and the problem is still there as the tray only extends its width not height.

Now, I cannot close the battery hatch and from bonet which is very annoying. The battery iself is very compat but the wires...

Anyone has the similar issue or any suggestion to solve it?

Thanks,

Rock

I can't see your pictures but maybe flip it over so the wires are on the bottom?

Photos are now alive. Links were wrong.

I tried to flip over but couldnt fit in. Attached photos explained the best position I can located the battery but it is too high.

Couldnt bend those 8AWG cables as they are very stiff.

First You can adjust the battery tray to the largest position
Second slightly modify your battery turnigy battery cable, cut the white protective rubber to free some space for the cable to bend freely
Hope you understood me

I understand what you meant by that.

The battery tray is at its maximum size, shown here.

Can I cut this white plastic film? How much do I need to cut? All the way or just the half? Will this weaken the cable strength?

I am planning to shorten two 8 AWG cables to half of their original lenght and then change two 5.5 mm bullet connectors to a EC5 connector. Is EC5 suitable for using with 8 AWG cable? I found it is very awarked to use Deans at this case.

Thanks,

Rock

Cut until the wire and the bottom edge of the battery are in the same level
To seat flat on the battery tray
It will not weaken
Ive done it with mine
Ive shove 5-6mm of the white plastic thing

Hello,

Thanks for the suggestion which I have followed.

The battery now prefectly seats within the tray.

I now need to change the connector as 5.5 bullet connectors came originally are not suitable for me. Need to change to EC5.

I've always aligned the cables to the bottom so that they don't stick out. If your esc battery connector is long enough then connect the battery first, and then push the excess between the battery tray lip and the interior, then push the rest in while placing the battery into the tray with everything facing down. Do it at an angle so that the cables for the battery go in first. Should be plenty of room for them to lay next to the angled part of the battery tray and the inside of the body panel.

Thanks. The cables of the batteries are 8AWG which are very thick and stiff. I tried to push the cables first but it ends up the battery is too high in the tray.

The cables of the battery are also very long which are the same length as the battery!! I will chop them to half so should be fine.

I am waiting for my EC5 connectors and will update my progress in due course.

Thanks all,

Rock

I've seen some guys cut a little clearance in the bottom of the battery tray as well.

Just have some updates on the batteries.

As the original cables coming with thses batteries are 8 AWG which are too thick to be bent easily, I removed a section of 8 AWG cable and matted a 12 AWG cables at the end which was then soldered to a DEANS connector.

Now, the battery can be pushed into the battery tray which has been adjusted to the maximum width.

Now, all problems have been solved.
