Static ride height with mip rear shaft taken straight on from the left (driver side) with that rear tire removed to show the pinion. That will clear up a lot I think.

I think I moved my upper link end to the upper hole. Should it be in that middle hole maybe?

Back off either the inner or outer rod ends on the upper links 2 turns. That will rock the axle back a bit so the driveline is effectively shorter.

Nope...unscrewed them where I could see a thread on each end. Still binding. When fully compressed I can see the whole tranny try to lift up off the skid. It seems like it's not the right length drive shaft. I am not even close to seeing splines peak out of the female end like that photo with Harleys rig.

Hmm... I bet if you pull the male end off the axle and measured just the bone from bell to tip someone will measure their known correct shaft for comparison.

I'm in Cali and can't grab any measurements or pics, I flipped through my build thread and found a few. I don't have any splines showing at right height either, but I do have the shaft mounted the other direction. Don't know how that could affect anything, but it's worth a shot.

Any chance those are twin hammer length trailing arms or something weird? Where does your truss hit at full compression? Mine lands right at the very rear of the frame.

Okay. Measurements...

Male from bell to end of spline = 4 17/32" (just over 4.5")
Female from bell to opening = 1 11/16"
Total length from bell to bell compressed = 4 13/16"

My truss hits same as yours. I checked length of TA with stock plastic and they are same length. About to check the upper links.

Length of TA and Upperlinks look good compared to stock.

I am baffled. Wish I could post a video or something to prove I am not crazy. Haha

Flip the shaft around, I wonder if the female tube is hitting the motor plate/ spur cover and lifting the trans up? I know it's all really tight in there, even with the skinny end.

Okay. So I swapped out one rear upper link rod end with a longer one.

No binding now! But.....how bad is this pinion angle?

What should a correct pinion angle look like?

Well even if that pinion angle was okay, it hits the upper link in full compression. I think I give up.

Anyone ever cut a MIP? Could just take a half inch off the male spline with a dremel?

I've cut them before. No need to take half an inch off though. Start with 1/8" and go from there. If you cut too much you'll have issues with lack of spline engagement. The splines in the female end don't go all the way through.

Personally I'd dump the trailing arms in favor of ucfab, supershafty or another with replaceable ends that can be swapped for the same longer jato style end that you used on the upper.

Thanks for all the help. I am bailing on the MIPs. Spent too much time trying to figure this out and not enough time using the truck.

So I contacted MIP and it turns out my male spline is almost 1/2" longer than the yeti spline. So the used "yeti" driveshaft I purchased is not a yeti driveshaft after all. What an F'ing debacle. At least I know I am not crazy.

Probably one of those long Traxxas male ends?

Yeah. Mine measured 4.5" and the correct one is 4.1". I think supershafty has the 4.5" on his website actually.
