Default dp builds a BOMBER

I've loved these since they come out and now there's a kit I'm stoked to get bolting some plastic together
I already had some upgrades on the shelf. And I have some of the kit already assembled.

It is very obvious that there was alot more engineering and thought for layout on this chassis. Very well designed I must say.

I'll be running some very stout axles built with racing in mind. As well as a little crawling here and there. I picked up a set of DLUX housings with the big bearings. THESE ARE A MUST IMO for long life of the internals. I will eventually be doing the 2 speed. Just because I don't mind shifting and it will be nice to have that extra low gear in the spots I need precision control for a little crawling. Also im a very big fan of the TLR shock and im familiar with tuning them. I may try the KINGS later on.

The biggest changes I am making up front will be shocks, Dlux front U4 truss and AR60 housings and Alum wheels.

I painted a few of the parts just to make them stand out from the rest of the plastic. Shock towers and fuel cell.

I machined these trailing arms a couple years back. Still undecided if i will use them on this or not.

Here are a few pics of cage and trans assembly!

Unfortunately I couldn't use my trailing arms for this rig.

But I really like how the rest turned out. Again I am impressed with Axial's design front to back on this rig.

panels painted and stickered!!!!

Updated pics

NOS IS INSTALLED

FUEL CELL FINISHED

I took this out racing after a little shock tuning.... WOW these things are planted and a blast to drive!!!!

I bought and built this cause they look sweet and i wanted something to race 2.2 U4. But i was blown away how it handles and how much fun it is to drive. Definitely gonna keep this one for awhile.

i was having too much fun and unfortunately i only snagged 1 photo between races!

Your Bomber is just beautiful. One of the best I've seen!

Where did you get the Fox wrap? That's awesome.

Does the rear need dual shocks or is it for looks?

How did you make the dp logo on the fuel cell? It looks great!

Thanx
I'm not sure it fits snugly over 3mm thread. It is just fuel line for nitro motor.

Thanx, I painted the panels and the Fox decals I had laying around bought off Ebay a few years ago

Dual shocks are not really necessary if you take the time to tune. I however set up my secondaries with just a light 10wt oil to slow the rear down just a little bit!

My dp decals I had cut a few years back as well

A few of us did some U4 racing and some trailing up 9th Street here in Ogden on Saturday. Only grabbed a couple pics!

Made it a couple races before having some minor carnage. Stretched a rod end. Never done that before. .... will be switching to revo ends!

This rig had been flawless, bullet proof and extremely fun so far. I have approximatly 10 hrs on it now and Everything is smooth as butter and I now have my shocks tuned perfectly with a 3300mah 3s lipo. It jumps and and corners just like the real deal!

Little race carnage

What solution did you go with to achieve clearance between the VP motor mount and the gear covers? Good job on the build.

I have approx. 30 race hrs on my Bomber with almost zero failures other than weak rod ends.

Had a great time this last weekend in St George. Got away from the 3 ft of snow on my lawn in Northern Utah to nice sunny and 50 deg in Southern Utah.

I brought along my Bomber and C2 rig and played all day Saturday out at a place called Area 51 West of St George.

We raced U4 most of the day but only snapped a couple photos.

This rock is superb traction. Very similar to 40 grit sandpaper. I would take off in a wheelie almost every race.
A couple pics of mine before takeoff and a bad landing on a jump that was part of the course.

Also a pic of my brother with the Black Bomber on takeoff.

How did you get that look on the "screens" on the sides of the battery tray?

That was a simple step that turned out great. Grab ya a Silver permanent sharpie at the local grocery or Walmart. I touch up alot of different things with this.

Took the bomber out racing a few days ago with some friends and tried hard to break something, all I could manage to break was a stock rear drive shaft. Servo is holding up and all drivetrain, not bad for running a Pro-4 for over 40 hrs of race time now.
Had a ton of fun and by far my favorite rig to drive right now.
