My Bomber kit build
 

After being out of all things rc for quite some time (10 yrs or so) I met one of your members who asked me about three months ago if i wanted to come out to a short course and mess around a little bit. I said sure and dusted off the old nitro sport and headed out to the track. They only laughed a little when i was asking who had what crystal color.

After breaking parts for most of day he got out his rc crawler. Honestly i did not see the appeal, i mean how fun could crawling little stuff like this be anyways. After he ran it around a bit he let me behind the wheel for a quick spi and wow i now see what all the fuss is about, and an hour later it was dark. I had a blast!

So... i decided to get a kit of some sort and did a little searching and lots of reading and decided on a bomber kit. And some fancy new electronics and we wait patiently for fedex.

Electric has come a long, long way in 10 years. Brushless motors and LiPo batteries have reignited this hobby. Most people don't even mess with nitro these days.

The Bomber is a great kit. It can crawl well and still go fast.

Random question.
What do you use to clean these things now? I used to use denatured alcohol in a spray bottle and an air hose. That still the go to or has that changed as well?

Hey Iky, where abouts in Ohio are you? If you are ever around Lancaster hit me up for a meet up and I'll show you some really cool steep angled crawling terrain. We have some get togethers on Sundays, although lately the group seems to be fading since the weather has dipped.....I'm very satisfied with my Bomber. You did good on that choice.

I remember using those things for cleanup on nitro vehicles because of all the unburnt fuel coating everything (and then the dirt sticking to that!)...

That alcohol can easily get into bearings, dissolving the lube, and will also eventually dry out the adhesive on decals around the edges.

I'd use old brushes to loosen stuck on dirt, wipe it down with damp rags, dry with little bursts of air but not really concentrated closeup blasts that can drive grit into areas where you don't want it to go.

Eventually I'd get the better sealed bearings and a stainless steel screw kit to keep moisture from causing issues.

Don't use alcohol. I prefer Mean Green/Simple Green when I'm doing a thorough cleaning. Typically an air hose will do even for mud if you let it dry.

Well at this point I can not file any more of my 2mm allen down to keep using it. I need to get a replacement to finish it off.

Also looking at some fun paint ideas.

Ok, so i took the truck out for its first run. I noticed a problem fast. Stock tire foam is trash. My new alloy wheels got beat up big time.

I need some suggestions. I will be running stock or similar size tires. 5.6-5.75"
