Not my video, I have a dex8, but just for fun. The VRP game changers are $28 a pair on sale right now.

I've tried all combos of no bladder, bladder with foam, bleeder screw in, bleeder screw out, blah blah blah. Ended up back at full bladder, no foam, screws in. I really enjoy messing with the fast 1/8 stuff, no where to really push them out here though.

I use the slash front and rear shocks on my bomber as well. I run between 10-20wt rear and 20-35wt front. Springs are a toss up. My only problem is a bounce when landing to flat after a jump. If I can back side my jumps the truck is smooth but most of my jumps are rather small and leave little area for error.

I use the MIP bypass1 pistons in my B5M and love them. I wish I could get them for the prolines but MIP has discontinued them for all shocks.

Several of the fast 2wd/4wd buggy guys use the VRP pistons at my local track. They seem to really like them. I'm just too cheap to spend 15$ for a pair of pistons

Here's my pics. Droop, bump and ride height.

Rear shocks

Front shock (no battery, sits a little lower loaded up)

is this a crawler setup?

why is the strap holding the spring with the shock base? preventing the spring from getting out of place?

i have a custom truggy and use power strokes in the rear and scaler proline in the front cause the front was waaay to high and had to use smaller fronts..thought about using softer springs and lighter wt oil to get the front a little down with the big powerstokes....

I use it for everything, my Wraith hasn't left the house in a year. The zip ties keep the spring cup from disappearing, the powerstroke caps are pretty tight on the rod end, but it's basically free insurance.

I have a set of the scalers laying around brand new. If the powerstokes are 14mm, the scalers are like 9mm. They offer very very little dampening on a rig this big.

yeah a couple of weeks ago lost 2 spring cups (easy fix then!)

gonna try the powerstokes in the front with light wt oil, shorter rod end and soft springs to see if i can get them to go down just enough to get a proper ride height

yeah those scalers look great and everything but the dampening is not enough

I have been using metal wire to save my spring cups, but I like the zip tie idea better! May try a shorter rod end as well to lower the front a bit. I think the blue on blue spring setup for the front (using a rear slash length) is what it needs for my setup. Good stuff here. Thanks!

Until I know what holes the pl shocks have buying more pistons is just a shot in the dark. Especially at that price.

Gatta give those a try, looks like it'll help with quicker rebound

What do you mean? As in what size holes? We know there are two holes compared to 5 in these third party Pistons.

Hole size matters just as much as hole quantity.

in the item description it states this..

This is an optional M2C Racing Tapered 5-Hole Shock Piston Set, and is intended for use with any vehicle equipped with Pro-Line PowerStroke shocks. These delirin 5-hole shock pistons will provide improved turn in, faster settling after jumps and are great through rough sections of track. The pistons feature a .075 deep taper and .8 through holes.

i have those M2C pistons in my Powerstrokes, but haven't really had enough run time on them installed to comment on their performance. it would be easy enough to drill out the Proline pistons and even countersink one side like the M2C design...

I just emailed pro-line to see if we can get an answer on the stock hole size.

With that said, you can order these M2C Racing pistons directly from them for a couple bucks more than Amain. I just ordered them.

Would be nice if they'd publish the hole size. I'd guess that prolong would say between 1-2mm

I have looked at a piston drilling kit and making some blanks just to drill for my own sick curiosity but I'm not very motivated.

One can modify the holes on a ProLine piece.. But the tighter tolerance of the OD is also perking my interest.
