| SSD V2 Steering Link vs. VP / Incision Steering Link
Does the SSD V2 steering link give more clearance around the diff cover, equating to more turning radius, than the VP / Incision steering link? I have the Incision steering link and it rubs on the diff covers when fully turned. I know I can set the servo endpoints to limit the steering, but I would rather that my diff cover not be the limiting factor for my turning radius. Last edited by Drm31078; 01-24-2017 at 06:31 PM. |

What does your current setup look like? I have the Vanquish tie rod with the Vanquish knuckles and it has tons of clearance. The diff cover actually sticks out further than the tie rod so the axle is the first point of contact when encountering obstacles. |

I will take a photo when I get home but my servo is on top of the axle in the normal position, therefore my steering link being rotated as highly as yours won't work. It's currently in front of the diff cover. When the steering is to the extremes the steering link hits the diff cover and limits the steering.

Move your servo back and tip the tie rod up. Turn the rod in the ends to hold it in the position you want, o rings on the balls help too. |

How do you have the tie rod mounted? Mine does not get anywhere close to the diff at full lock.

Is that turned all the way? If so, that is a crazy amount of clearance compared to mine. I will snap some photos tonight. I have the VP V2 housings with VP diff cover.

| Re: SSD V2 Steering Link vs. VP / Incision Steering Link Yep that's full lock, knuckles are bottomed out on the axle housing. I have the scale knuckles but that shouldn't change where they mount. |

Clearance at full lock with the new SSD front tie rod. The marks on my diff cover are from the other tie rod you mentioned. I am running SSD knuckles though. So they probably play together best. |

It's titanium not glass so just slip the tie rod in a vice and whack it with a hammer. A couple more degrees on each bend and a half turn on the rod ends will fix it right up.

Flip your servo mount to mount the servo from behind. Grind the bottom hole off the Axial arm. The arm are drag link will tuck in behind the tie rod and you can twist it up out of the way.

Okay...but what I don't understand is how all of this is from the same company and is supposed to be direct stock replacement, yet it doesn't fit together without modification? Defeats the purpose of buying a bolt on upgrade. Then the VP servo horn doesn't fit my new savox servo without modification or force pressing it onto the servo. End rant. Thats why I thought I must have installed it wrong. I just got the SSD steering links delivered. Will give those "bolt on" upgrades a try and see if they require modification to work. You have the 3D diff cover so it's thicker than the rest right where the tie rod wants to be. Bend the tie rod a bit and give it another alignment and you're done

| Re: SSD V2 Steering Link vs. VP / Incision Steering Link also try putting the tie rod and drag link on top of the steering arm like this one, should work reguardless of the dope Dlux goodies you see here.

Maybe they are getting too big too quickly.....usually quality takes a hit when that happens.

[IMG][/IMG] This tree comes with 4mm off-set rod ends (top right). These help push the tie rod out a little further. My Incision tie rod was also binding on my diff cover until I switched to these ends. They need to be trimmed just a touch to eliminate toe out. The SCX10 II comes with several of this tree. I'm not sure if all the off-set ends are used up or not. Otherwise it's a cheap pick-up at the hobby shop. |

SSD = 1 Incision = 0 With some room to spare! Now I will say this, and I know SSD is lurking on this thread, the rod end design for the SSD link seems weaker than the Incision design. I am assuming these have been proven to be plenty strong? |
