| First time crawler... RR10 (RTR)
Got back into R/C last year after a 20+ year hiatus. After a couple of Slash 4x4s, an X-Maxx, and now a Arrma Typhon, I decided to try something different. After lurking at the local crawling trails asking questions and watching a bunch of YouTube vids, I decided on a Bomber. I took it out today for the first time, and I gotta say that this thing is awesome! Even box stock, I had little trouble navigating some cool obstacles. I figure that I'll enjoy and upgrade as I break things. On to the pics... |

Good first choice. Do yourself a favor and upgrade those tires at some point.

Really neat course you got there . If you are upgrading the tires to one of the recommendations by Jato, I would also upgarde the foams while you're at it. I would look into Crawler Innovations Double Deuce either 5.5 or 6.0 std inner, medium outer. I went with 6.0 for my boys Wraith and Bomber for their Hyrax and TSLs. |

Definitely don't skip the foams. One of my the only upgrades I have on my kit bomber is the foams. Still running the stock tires but they'll get swapped out soon. General upgrades to look into are Gna be steering links and links in general. If your just crawling with this rig your not going to need a ton to make it survive. Keep lurkin and reading the threads to learn as much as possible. You may end up changing the wheelbase length and upgrading if something breaks

| Re: First time crawler... RR10 (RTR) Yeah, the stock servos seem to be hit and miss. I've had terrible luck with axial servos but have read that some people never do. Whether it's the horn or gears I always destroy em pretty quick

rock beast 2, ci foams 6", medium outer rear, soft front. Double deuce. make sure and vent the tires too. beadlock rims so you can switch out the foams if you want to. do whatever you want of course, but friends of mine that have been doing this for a while suggested that setup. so far, i wouldn't change a thing. almost all crawling. nice looking ewok climbing ladder situation going on there, looks real fun Last edited by kennydoggins; 03-25-2017 at 01:25 AM.

It's amazing what the guys have done with this track. This was an unused area of the park, and they were extremely creative with the layout. There is much more that I couldn't take pics of (I was driving and taking the pics at the same time). There's even a very tricky teeter-totter which has its pivot point about 5-6 feet above the ground!

And ProLine has their own dual stage foams now that fit the Hyrax tires perfectly.

| Re: First time crawler... RR10 (RTR) You're right, they do come with the big cushy foams. I don't find them that great, but like you stated, one can get by with them - and they are much better than the Axial foams |

Good looking rig Chris, and good to have you over here. You're back after a 20+ year hiatus, and I'm on hiatus after 20+ years of RC. Funny how life works. I'll second the CI double deuce foams and either the Rock Beast II (best all around tire IMO), or the Swamper boggers (better for loose conditions) either one. For the terrain you posted, I think I'd go boggers, and cut them. Meaning, cut out all the small knobs. I have a set of cut boggers for the Wraith, and they're amazing in loose stuff, and still do pretty well crawling. For pure crawling on rocks and hard pack, the Rock Beasts win. Welcome to another expensive hobby! |

Thanks Randy! It's amazing how this hobby has transformed since I have been away. Since posting, I have acquired Swampers (still working on foams but you guys are making my decision easier), beadlocks, SS link kit from Incision, Axial servo horn, and a LED light bar from Team Associated. Once I get it all mounted up, I'll update. No more Moto, so I have more money to throw at MTBs and R/Cs. Not sure that's any cheaper though! Last edited by HOLLYWOOD33; 04-06-2017 at 06:25 AM. |

Yeah, it's come a long way from mechanical speed controls and stick packs, that's for sure. I still have most of my rigs and aircraft, in case the urge strikes at some point.
