Default Bomber Underbelly

I seen somewhere a metal underbelly for the wraith and thought it would be a good upgrade for the bomber. I put underbellys on my snowmobiles so i figured it be great for an rc. Has anyone seen or heard of a metal underbelly that will fit the rr10 bomber?

You don't want an underbelly on an RC.

These metal skid plates cost a pretty penny.

I read somewhere on this forum : Why add 25$ of metal when you can replace the plastic skid for 5$ when it's too damaged ?

Just to play devil's advocate, on the Bomber, that's like a 4000 hour job.

Yeah.. But isnt it part of the hobby?
I find it relaxing to tinker around with tools and you can clean / grease / upgrade it while you are there.

I have one of those on my bomber. If you put it on when you build it it doesn't take more than 5 minutes to put on. I think I would have worn through the plastic part already.

Its one of those things, some like it some don't.

seeing as you have one installed I wanted to ask it the bellypan fit nice and tight to the underside of the truck

Yup it fits as close to the plastic as you can get it, I like that it makes the bottom flat adds a little weight down low too.You can see the side of it in this pic.

They are aluminum body panels painted with Testors Model Master Spray Champagne Gold Metallic.Has a satin finish not too glossy. It matches the champagne colored anodized parts from Axial close enough for me. (servo horn, diff covers, fronts links, steering linkage)
The metallic effect does not show in that pic, but it is metallic. looks better in person.
The interior parts that would be aluminum panels were painted Tamiya PS-52 Polycarb Champagne Gold Aluminum to match the body and anodized parts.
I'll shoot another pic, be warned the bomber is dirty.

I wanted to add that the Hyrax tires increase the ground clearance so any loss in ground clearance from the skid plate is offset.

I don't want to derail this thread with my bomber pics so heres a link

Heres a pic of the skid plate, it fits close to the chassis, ignore the broken rod end.

The problem with those alloy skids is almost every manufacturer decides to machine bits out of the underside for wank factor, when in reality all that does is add catch points & hang ups. If they left them smooth they'd be worth considering.

If your going to run one, the AMF in stainless would be the least likely to bite the rocks but I too am in the "$25 spent better elsewhere" camp.

I already spent as much elsewhere as I could.I got 1500 into this thing and I think protecting it is not a bad idea.
