XL doesn't have great startup, its brute force rock racer and not crawler tuned.

The regular 540 is what everybody else designs into a 550 can or calls an HD motor, so don't be thrown off by the regular size can and 540 name. The Puller 540 was designed specifically for the Wraith and Bomber, it runs cool and offers unmatched startup control. Or throw it into a stampede for 50mph wheelies. It's a very flexible, powerful, and efficient motor.

Of your motors, what would you recommend for a 1/10 yeti, non XL, that is purely basher, no crawling.

Castle Mamba X ESC and either a Holmes Puller Pro or Tekin ROC412. They are both excellent motors and both stand behind their products. Unless things have changed the Puller Pro has the edge with the 3500kV versus the Tekin ROC412 which has a max of 3100kV.

How does this combination sound?

I am using (and want to retain) 2s NiMh but would like a bit more speed.

Motor Option1 x CrawlMaster Pro 550 10t $89.99
Motor Leads1 x Install Holmes 90° Leads $6.30
Motor Rotation1 x Forward (Counterclockwise) Rotation $0.00
Motor Timing1 x 0° Timing $0.00
ESC Option1 x Holmes Hobbies TorqueMaster BR-XL $89.99
Battery Plugs1 x Install Deans Style T Plug $4.50

You probably mean 6 cell nimh.

I would suggest 6 degrees of timing. Otherwise, looks good.

Out of curiosity and since I looked at the same brushed motor for my bomber, what is the timing and why 6 degree?

Timing is just like timing on a car. More timing, more rpms. Timing at zero is great for reversing installations like a robot, but in a crawler where we mostly go forwards it is better to have a few degrees for better brush life. 6 to 12 degrees works well and does not affect brake and reverse efficiency too much.

Do you know if the Bomber is forward or reverse rotation?
If you add timing, is there any other requirement for installation (gearing, rotation, etc...)?

Bomber is standard (forward) rotation, and you won't have an issue with 550 motors and stock gearing.

OK, I already dropped down to an 11T pinion on the current Titan 21T 550.
Maybe I can move back up to 12T when I change the motor for a crawlmaster.
