| Team Associated SC Shocks on the Bomber
Up there with “What Motor/ESC should I run?,” I think “What shocks should I use” is one of the more popular topics here in the Bomber forum. Well here's another. I have yet to introduce this truck to RCC, whatever. I’ll make a formal “How do you do” thread for this truck another time. Shocks. I first picked up a set of Associated 12mm Big Bores with a Wraith I got in a trade. I cleaned them, refilled them, and found them to be a nice looking set of shocks. Ran that Wraith for a while, and not kindly. The shocks held up great. No leakage. Good performance (from what my limited experience could tell). So when I found a set of four for $30 NIP on RCG, i scooped them up. Building this shocks was pure joy! I’ve built a couple sets of Axial kit shocks, GMades, rebuilt some Kings, Boom Racing, and man I gotta say these Team Associated shocks are a different level of coolness. Love the design, love the quality, and I have a new love affair with Green Slime. Now I gotta say, I know very little about shock setup, tuning, and basically everything else. So my decision to run the 1.6 pistons and 30W oil on ~100mm rears and ~90mm fronts is totally haphazard and my success or failure will be aligned with trial and error. Oh yeah, and my springs were just what fit and what I had in hand. I'll break down and buy some TA spring kits soon. I drive my Bomber in a Scale Ultra fashion (think Axial Fest Altra 5K). Coastal PNW bluff trail and forest floor is my stomping ground. Medium-high speeds and lots of bumps, so these shocks will get their fair share of terrain thrown at them. A fellow driver out here echoed my hunch, that Shortcourse shocks might be a pretty decent way to go, after all those dudes like to go fast over da bumps. so I'm excited to start breaking these in. Thoughts? Peace, -PJ Last edited by Pushjerk; 10-21-2017 at 09:16 PM. |

I run them on my IFS Bomber and they are great. A good set of shocks from a race kit makes you realize the shocks we get in the crawler world are terrible to average at best. |

SVT, obviously our setups are pretty different, you running IFS. But May I ask, are you running the ~90mm front shocks and the longer rears? And what springs are you rocking? Last edited by Pushjerk; 10-22-2017 at 08:30 AM. | |

These wouldn't be a bad choice for a Wraith either.

He scored those in the for sales on another forum. I started to get them but refrained. I have an SC10, but the shocks do not look that good. Mine are well used. Edit: Dollarhobbyz has several kit version of them with the threaded preload. Some with clips. The shocks on my SC10 have the clips. Try e got a lot of tuning springs, too. Yeah these came out of a lucky trade on RCGroups. You can pick them up at Tower when in stock. Associated Shock Kit 12mm Front SC10/T4 | TowerHobbies.com Associated Shock Kit 12mm Rear SC10/T4 | TowerHobbies.com |

Shocks from race kits, for sure, are some of the best out there. Proline shocks are great, but they aren't cheap. |

Good shocks, emulsion setup. Even the standard SC10 shocks are nice. They look a lot like Fox shocks coil carriers as well. Something else perhaps to consider are the Losi ten scte shocks. Those are excellent as well.

| Re: Team Associated SC Shocks on the Bomber I can second that on the Losi TLR shocks. Been running them hardcore racing for a year on my Bomber. ..still no leaks and smoothest shock I've ever setup. I imagine these AE shocks are equally as nice |

I tried a set of losi xxxnt shocks on my bomber. Really smooth all through the compression, but I never got around to getting the right springs though.

I have a set of Team Associated shocks in the 100mm flavor all around I've been debating on putting on the bomber once I get the truggy build over with. This may be the push I needed.

I was going to go with team associated shocks, but all the associated shocks I have use standard hardware. So I robbed the shocks from a 22sct 2.0 and am running them. The 22 series shocks are really nice, which also come on the scte 3.0 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

So anyone who runs these, If I may request some insight. I'm having a time getting them mounted. Need to modify, if not upgrade the shock towers (rear), Solid axles front and rear. No prob, next on the list. Issue at hand now is pivot bushings for the aluminum shock cap. I do believe these are the latest AE 12mm Big Bores, kits are part numbers 91315 and 91317. Any recommendations on pivot bushings for these alum caps? I have seen AvidRC makes some Associated Shock Standoffs | Delrin Bushing Accessorie AV1018-B |
