Default AR60 Xtra Speed Stainless axle tubes vs Beef Tubes info?

Hi All
New here, I recently purchased a Bomber RTR for my son to try out some RC fun, I have decided to build one myself now, I have lots of goodies on the way & I have found a brand new stock cage etc & some brand new Wraith Spawn Method rims n Ripsaw tires to get started, I am going to build a new set of axles (or diffs as they are known in the full scale world)

I would like to know if it is worth fitting the Xtra Speed stainless axle tubes? Is there any known issues with these & should I just go for the more expensive tubes?

They're fine. I had to remove some burrs, but that's 10 seconds of work.

From what I have read they should work fine
......hopefully

There is so many upgrades & different options to setting it all up it can be overwhelming trying to decide which parts to actually use

I am still looking into the motor & ESC options

I might have to start a build thread when most of the parts arrive, I should have 90% of it here in a week or 2 maybe but I still need to decide on a few upgrades here n there

If you keep it brushed, hobbywing 1080 with the Traxxas Titan 21T 550.
Low cost, easy to replace if burned and still fun on 3s from all the forums I read.

For tubes, I got beeftubes in my kit. Brass front and aluminium rear.

Bit of research mentioned the Holmes Hobbies TrailMaster Sport 550 21T has a bit more power & speed compared to the Titan & they are about the same price? leaning towards the HH Trailmaster for now until I go to a HH Brushless motor

I am in Australia so everything here is typically more expensive (compared to the USA etc) so I was hoping the Xtra Speed tubes would do the job as they are less than half the price of the Beef Tubes (almost 1/3 actually)

That's why I got them. 2 pairs for 20$ shipped, can't beat that. RCmart usually has free shipping on them, if not, check out their ebay page.

Only thing to do was file down the notches on the axles in the rear - apparently that's normal for all tubes but is not mentioned anywhere. Maybe that's why Xtra speed ones are marketed as front only.

Beeftubes warns about the fit in the rear and has instructions for the modifications.

But yeah they are a little pricey.

In the past with any tube insert for the AR60 housings in the rear you will have to modify the actual axle shaft very slightly. (later production batches may have fixed this)
At the inner end of the shaft there is a lip where the shaft goes from round to the flat tangs that go into the diff centre/spool/locker.
The ID of the tubes is just fractionally smaller than the OD of this lip & it will need to be turned down a whisker.
Don't go over board, don't need to remove the whole lip, chuck it up in a battery drill & just take off a little with a file till it fits down the tube.

It can sometimes be necessary to clearance the inside of the actual housing, as a molded plastic piece it's always possible for the tolerances to not quite be 100%
It's easiest done with a drill bit, check your tubes but from memory the AR60 tubes are 3/8"
You want the tubes to slip in nice, not loose but not that you have to force them in with a press (that only busts stuff & makes it supper hard to align the screw holes)

I have some of both breeds of tube & I can't tell a functional difference between them in installation or use. I'm afraid in this case the post from HK is the winning factor for me also.

I used the Boom Racing Kronik stainless tubes in my Bomber, no issues.

AsiaTees has 'em...
