Default Brushed for bomber?

Would a brushed setup running 3s provide enough for a bomber? Im not looking to turn it into a crazy jumper as i have other rc's for that and would prefer the control, price and waterproofness brushed provides. I already have HW Crawler esc but would need a motor unless a 17t would work. But will it have enough go to be fun and enough speed for large obstacles.

I’d have a look at some of the longer/bigger motors like the 550 and maybe the 775 Traxxas offers. The 550 12t isn’t rated for 3s but I’m not sure about the 21t.

Lots of people here are using the Traxxas Titan 21T 550 or the Holmes Hobbies trailmaster sealed can.

I have a holmes hobbies 21t 550 and hobbywing 1080 esc in my bomber and running 3s. I think it's plenty for a bomber.

I use Titan 12T, but on 2S and it flies.

Just whipped out my castle 3800kv motor ( to go in my yeti whilst I await a GoolRC motor to try) and in its place Ive put in a Titan 550 21T on a 15 pinion gear. Ive still got the mamba X in there so I thought I would try 4S. Only a quick blast round the garden and the road outside but its pretty impressive in 2nd gear. The mamba log shows that it produced 0.8hp at peak which isnt bad. Compare this to 1.166hp for the 3800 on 3S and 2.0hp for the 2200kv on 6S in my yeti. Quite impressive for a £20 motor.

Running a Holmes Hobbies Trail master 550 21T motor in my sons Bomber & for an under $30 upgrade it is damn fast especially with the right gearing & some weight reduction
From some of the reviews I have read it is more powerful & faster that the Traxxas Titan 21T

What have you done as far as gearing? I am looking at this setup to install in a kit.

I run the same setup in my kit, still unfinished but i went with a 11T pinion to start with.

Holmes recommends 11/68 gearing for his brushed motors.
Stock bomber is 12/64

Default Brushed for bomber?

I believe a 10 tooth is as low as you can go on the pinion with 32p.

Edit: Nope. There’s an 8 and 7 tooth, too.

Great, how is that gonna be overall for mostly a crawler? I want to have a bit of speed to get over obstacles but don’t want it to work against me going slow.

Most reviews seemed very good. Slow crawl is nice especially with the settings from the hobbywing 1080 and it's a brushed motor so...

Being a 550 can and low turn it should have good torque and wheelspeed for a brushed motor and it's super easy to replace at 20$.

Cool, well I am excited for this project. I am just getting back into RC. My last rig was an RC10t2 when they came out. So a steep learning curve with the brushless stuff getting back in. I think going with this combo will work great to get started. See how it runs and works with this setup first.

I used to have my Titan 550 21T with 3s Lipo on my Wraith. I would these combinations are good in performance and yet still in budget side.
