Default What are the 3 best Bomber upgrades?

So you bought a Bomber, either RTR or kit. You can only change/upgrade 3 things. What do/did you do and why? Crawler crowd vs trail runners....... Your environment/terrain......... Abuse.....

RTR: servo, links, HD diff gears.

Kit: you can choose all electronics. Upgrades: nothing really needed. Upgrade after breaking.

Beeftubes
RPM rod end with M4 spacers

Spool lockers (incision, lockedup rc)
Or
Vanquish stage 1 kit

I'll be running brushed trailing but i wanted the axles to be ready for brushless.
Stage 1 kit was highly recommended on these forums and then it snowballed into a money pit...

Owning two Bombers and a Wraith... (this applies to RTR)

1. Servo/horn
2. Links/trailing arms
3. Motor/ESC

what servo do you guys recommend for a replacement? I'd like something powerful and fast, also waterproof.

Promodeler 470oz-in, $99

Holmes SHV500

Or you could test out one of the new Tekin servos at RPP HOBBIES...

I had a savox 1231sg, it had a chipped gear out of the box.
Then I went with a Holmes Hobbies Shv500v2. It's nice because it works on directly on my 3s battery so no BEC and less wiring.

RTR: servo horn, sway bar, motor

I use mine as a trail rig and I've only done the above mods so far. If you don't swap the links your servo will survive a little longer because the plastic ones have some give which cushions hard hits. Mine has taken a lot of abuse and I haven't broken anything yet.

Don't buy a Bomber RTR. Buy the kit. It includes so many upgrades that the RTR needs. I say this often, but the Bomber kit is Axial's best kit, most well equipped kit, and the best bang for your buck.

1. The ESC should be a Castle Mamba X and the Motor should be a Tekin ROC412 3100kv or a Holmes Puller Pro 3500kv
2. Get a strong servo.
3. Get better tires and wheels.

so true, the kit is awesome and the only ting I have fixed on my kit was a rod end and thats it. My steering link has been beat like it owes me money and had a fight with a couple thousand rocks and is still running strong

metal case servo is most def top of the list.

If you need more than either of those two options can offer you, for moving boulders or whatever with your steering throw, Savox has an absurdly powerful metal case servo now too with like a 160-170 dollar price tag. Think its called the 2290 or something along those lines, but for the money, promodeler is the jam.

I have the promodeler 470 on my Bomber. I have yet to encounter a situation that needs more servo.

Interesting, I figured the servo and horn would too the list. So theres more hype (could be translated as coolness multiplier) than performance benefit on the aftermarket widgets?

Pretty much, (unless you're rock racing) now that I have reliable electronics, I really don't feel the need to upgrade the rest of it (aside from the steering links and dogbones), since the only thing I've really broken are the electronics. (at this point I've put at least 100km on it)

If you get a kit, this is without a doubt the way to go. Mamba X and the Tekin ROC make an excellent combo! I run that in my Wraith. It's $$$, but worth it. Worry free!
