| Lower the Bomber for U4
I just got a Bomber RTR and am going to use it for U4 racing. I have read a bunch of threads on stopping it rolling over but all of them seem to want to keep some crawling ability which I am not interested in. So things like weighted wheels etc which add rotating mass won't be for me. So I am looking for some ideas on how to lower it as much as possible and the best way to widen and maybe even lengthen it slightly to 15" wheelbase as per U4RC 2.2 Comp regs. - Shock recommendations? - Shock mounting ideas / products to raise upper shock mounts and lower lower shock mounts? - Best sway bars for front & rear? - Any other recommendations for making the bomber more stable and difficult to roll over for U4 racing? Thanks guys Last edited by byrnieman; 06-05-2016 at 07:05 PM. |

Definitely shocks for starters. Many are going to a 90 mm front and 100mm rear. I use the Axial sway bar and have no gripes about the stability it provides. Sure you could lengthen the front a bit but may be difficult in the rear with the available trailing arm options. There are a couple aftermarket shock mounts for the rear but haven't seen anything for the front yet. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk |

Thanks - tell me about the Axial sway bar - is it a specific Bomber sway bar?? Front or rear?? Or are you using a yeti one or something?? I was hoping to get front and rear away bars - which ones should I be looking at? Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Axial, vp, ucfab and dlux have rear sway bars. For the front, ucfab sells sway bar mounts then use dlux universal sway bar.

I did some work in my bomber, you can see it here: DenisLM's U4 Bomber build it's waaay more stable than stock, but still rolls you push it too hard. also if you make it longer, will be bad for crawling... so you need to choose your destiny. |

Not interested in crawling as original post says. More than happy to trade off crawling ability for better stability at speed. Are there upper shock mounts to raise the front & rear shock mounting positions like you would to lower a Wraith? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm running Proline Powerstroke on mine, Slash front (90 mm) up front and Slash rear (100 mm) rear with the softest springs Proline provides. Adjusted preload so that it stands with sag around 50/50. UC Fab 0.08 sway bar rear. Generally I like to run just a little toe out on the front axle. It is very stable at speeds and corners well. Never done any competitive racing though...

Yes its expensive if you buy a bunch of upgrades and aluminum parts like I did. Not difficult but time consuming making a list of everything you need like parts, screws and there sizes.

I've done the B1B conversion to my RR10 also Matt, B1B Southern Hemisphere deployment I didn't bring to the last U4 race but you can check it out any time. Just note class wise it will move you from 2.2Comp with the Wraiths to 2.2IFS with the Yetis. |

A bomber ifs may not compete good with yetis. They will handle speed better. May be able to catch up in the rock section, but will be a interesting race to see. If you don't have a yeti, a bomber ifs may be fun (and expensive) I prefer to have two trucks and compete and two different categories with their one pros and cons. Also for race purposes the yeti is way better to work on. The cage of the bomber and the access to the electronics are terrible if you compare side by side. |

My plan is to build custom brackets to lower the bomber. I bought a bunch of 110mm shocks that are built really well for a good price and don’t want to get rid of them. I plan on running dual shocks on all four corners. Will be easy to build it’s just drop brackets for the shocks I’ll post pictures when I get them done.
