Default Allanon1965 builds a B1B bomber

ok, so here's the deal, I had a bomber when they first came out and didnt really care for it. Now I have been looking at the B1B mod from DMG and figured I like his stuff so why not try a B1B bomber. I bought the parts for it from a seller in the classifieds and have started trying to figure it out.

My first question is do you have to run a wraith/scx10 trans or can it be done with the bomber trans? I will post pics later today...thanks!

Old kits that use the stock Bomber skid require a Wraith transmission, new kits with the 3D printed skid use the Bomber transmission but could be adapted for a Wraith transmission.

I know a bunch of us that first built them used the Wraith trans, but I don't entirely remember what the issue with the Bomber trans was.
Didn't bother me, I built mine from parts & I had a Wraith trans spare but not a Bomber unit.

Looking at pics again now it's hard to see why the Bomber trans won't work, seems room for the steer servo off to the right.

Edit: dug back further & found this from DMG
RR10 IFS Tranny question
Drive shaft hits front skid plate.
Could potentially be easily fixed with spacer plate under Bomber trans to lift driveshaft clear

Thanks for the info, but i bought a skid from Jerry's supplier that will allow me to use the bomber trans, 25 bucks is pretty reasonable

Yeti tt exactly same.
Honestly don't know if worth buying slider, don't use that much of it.
Want rpm arms, need the exo toe blocks, VP bulkhead much nicer (I haven't sprung for VP for case.... yet) & I went VP steering & links
Don't need Yeti shock tower & I like exo bumper over yeti

well....that was a waste of 25 bucks...the skid came drilled for the wraith trans and nothing drilled for the front lower chassis plate, and the recess wasn't deep enough for the plate to fully seat into it, the holes in the plate didn't make it to the skid to even be able to drill them myself. I don't know, maybe there was a miscommunication with what I wanted... reckon I will use a wraith trans instead. This is shaping up to be another disappointment like the first bomber was for me. The only thing this printed skid does is allow more clearance between the ground and skid..I never seem to learn..

not gonna bother asking, I don't think it was ever intended to be for the bomber trans...its flat where the bomber trans needs part of the skid at an angle... the more I look at it, the more I realize I just don't like it. Not bashing anyone, just think I didn't make myself clear on what I was looking for and I just don't want to go any further with it.

here is the link to DMG's sale thread showing the skid, looks as if I was sent the V1 skid instead of the V2 skid as mine has only wraith trans holes in it..V2 has the bomber trans pattern...

http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/sale/...ly-loaded.html

but as I said, I just aint in to it..honestly my DMG wraith will go anywhere the B1B will go and probably do it better, my DMG wraith is simply awesome!... its what I judge all my other class 3 rigs by.

Well, no luck selling the B1B, found the parts I needed to complete it except the electronics so I will try again to finish it...maybe once its going I will grow to love it...I am going to see if I can make the Bomber trans work before buying a wraith trans

Well I got most of the parts I need yesterday, got them from another member here.... its 90% complete. I am going with a 35t brushed motor I have for the time being as I have made a few alterations to the rig to get the bomber trans to work. I still need to get a HW1080 ESC, a 4000mah 3s lipo, a steering servo, and a flysky/redcat rx.

I needed slw hubs and found a deal on the classifieds that was just a little more than 4 new hubs would have been and I got gearhead 2.2 aluminum bead locks with r35 krawlers and foams...I will probably still put on my 2.2 pitbull lightning bolt bead locks and RBII tires and foams. I will have this running a lot sooner than I thought. Once I have all the bugs worked out I will switch over to Holmes Hobbies Brushless Power!

Now for pics!

its close enough now, I will finish it and see how it does. I will have a few kinks to work out I am sure. It wasn't very intuitive on how to put it together and the other threads didn't show much in the building department, just BAM! it was together! lol!!

The left front axle shaft is bent and will need replaced but I am gonna run it while I get it tweaked and tuned. Once I like how it runs, I will upgrade to brushless and replace any questionable parts.

I got the Bomber trans to work by notching the bottom plate and putting spacers between the trans case and skid. I think it will work fine, seems very strong. Time will tell.
