Default Will this cheap setup work for crawling?

I have a Bomber kit on the way and have a very low budget left for electronics. I ordered some very cheap parts and would like to know if this will work for my style of driving.

Hobbywing 1060 ESC
Axial brushed 55t motor
Power HD 20kg servo

I don’t rockrace, i just like to creep/crawl at a pretty slow pace. I know it is a rockracer but i like the looks and technical aspects of the Bomber. I would also like to take it with me on long walks at 4/5mph for max. 2 hours. Can you Bomber experts tell me if i can do these things with these parts? Can you tell me what would be my top speed?
I have other plans for electronics in the future but this is what i have to work with for now.

Thanks

Get the hobbywing 1080 with a holmes Hobbies trailmaster sport 550 21T motor.

This is the best bang for buck on the market period.

The 1060 is not programmable and won't perform in the bomber.

I'm using this combo and I can creep below 2mph or get pretty fast at full throttle.
It's all on 3s with the settings from the 1080 esc.

This is exactly why i started this thread. I was reading on this forum and discovered that i should have ordered the 1080 an de 550 but i already ordered the 1060 and the 55t axial. That is why i asked if i can at least do with it what i meantioned above.

Well 55T is slow and very boring, the 1060 esc is either no drag brake with forward, brake, reverse or 50% drag brake with full forward and reverse.

No way to change the forward or reverse speed, no additional drag brake settings.

It's also stuck on 2s only which makes it even slower...

Hopefully your upgraded electronics are not too far. Otherwise sell it all and get the 1080 / 550 21T combo.

Oh I have the 1060 esc in my yeti jr and it has an annoying whining noise while the 1080 is completly silent at higher frequency.

I just send an email to RCmart and asked them if it is still possible to change my order. For the ESC that is, the 55t motor is already on it’s way. I have another car where i put the 55t in so that is not a loss. I hope that i can change my order....
I will order the 550 21t motor as soon as this post is done.
I assume that de Power HD 20kg servo will do the job....
Can you tell me what youre settings are on the 1080?

I explain the extra cost to my wife with a Tarzan pose and a wink....

Thanks

I made a thread about the 1080 esc settings,.it should still be around this forum.

I will try to find it when the kids are sleeping.

You won't regret the purchase, make sure you get a trailmaster Sport 550 21T, it's better than the traxxas titan 550 21T.

Already found enough info about the ESC settings. No need to search for the link. Thanks again for the help.

Why stuck on 2S, the 1060 works fine on 3S...

RCmart refunded the 1060 and i have ordered the 1080 immediately after that.
The motor and esc will arrive in two weeks or so. That gives me the time to build my TRX-4 kit first and than it is the Bomber’s turn.

Don't use a PowerHD 20kg in the Bomber, they really are the crappiest servo's I have ever had, even the stock RTR Bomber servo had a longer life than those.

I destroyed 4 in mine, all with the same issues and within a day of driving with the Bomber.

If he wants to stay budget he will need a relatively cheap servo.

Maybe one of the savox 1230?

just finished a spare parts build, and installed a 1060 in it. I recall buying the 1060 and being happy with it. After owning several 1080's I have to say the lack of a 7.4v BEC, ad adjustable really is let down. But then again it is exactly why I took it off a rig to begin with.

I also agree with your HH 550 21T. Just bought on of them and really for a $22.00 can it is very good. Lets see how it holds up in the mud and the water, since that is the whole reason I bought it.

I use the Power HD’s in all my crawlers and never had any problems. I have two very heavy TRX-4’s and a heavy SCX10 and a Gmade R1 with two Power HD’s on it and they are still running fine. I must say that i drive them really slow on very technical and steep terrain. Maybe because the Bomber is a different type of rc car they will break more easily....i don’t know, i am new to the rockracer type cars.
I still have the two stock servo’s that came with the TRX-4’s....i will run them in the Bomber untill they are fried. Then i have the Power HD 20KG that i have on order to burn up....by that time i have saved up some cash to buy a good strong high torque servo that the Bomber deserves.
Wich servo’s are recommended for a Bomber with the 1080 and the HH 550 21t?

I went all out on the servo with a Holmes hobbies shv500 v2. It runs directly on 3s.

But any 400oz+ torque will work.

Wow! That’s one helluva servo....120 dollar.....pfff. Nice piece of equipment!

Another question....Are the aftermarket servo mounts for the Wraith the same as for the Bomber? I know that the Bomber has a Wraith front and a Yeti rear, but just to be sure...

Does anybody have a link to a video of a Bomber with the Hobbywing 1080 in combination with the hh 550 21t? I searched but could not find anything on google/youtube.

The bomber gearing I found to be rather high for my taste even with a larger spur and 9t pinion. Hot racing makes a $50 2 speed transmission gearset that I highly recomend. I ran it for a year without issue, never set up a shift servo as 99% of the time I left it in 1st gear. If I wanted speed I could reach in and shift it manually. Once in a great while it would pop out of gear during a rollover.

My first run couple of months ago
Hobbywing 1080
Traxxas titan 550 21T
11/64 Gear
Venom 3s 3300mah

https://youtu.be/9t6FTxoknSQ

With low startup and low acceleration on the 1080 I can crawl at snail pace without cogging and it's pretty fast at full throttle.

Thanks for the reply,

I have two TRX-4’s and i love the transmission in those. I know that there are 2sp transmissions for the Bomber and i am considering buying one. But alot of people say ‘volts up, gear down’ to get more torque.....but i still think that a trannie is way cooler and i love technical stuff. I will wait to see if my initial setup will be to my satisfaction...if not, i throw a trannie in there.
