Default Holmes 21t?

Hi guys I want more speed out of my bomber.I don't need a rocket ship but enough speed to make it fun.I have seen the Holmes 21t mentioned quite a bit while searching for answers.Would I want the 540 or 550 size and would stock RTR gearing be ok?Thanks for any advice.

550 all the way
Better torque less heat
Works fine with stock gearing but personally, I went with a 11T pinion on 3s for better low speed control since I do trails mostly.

Don't stay on 2s, the bombers needs power.
That combo of hobbywing 1080 and 21T 550 is perfect on 3s.

No heat, good speed, very good torque and you can still crawl at snail pace.

Good call to change esc with new motor, my stock esc didnt hold up to well to 21t 550 and 3S. Blew a hole out the side and melted the motor wire out.

I've experimented a bit with my RTR Bomber. Presently it has a 2-speed transfer box and has a 13T pinion and 56T spur gear. It accelerates nicely, has reasonable top speed and still crawls superbly.

I am going to try an Axial 20T motor in it.

All this is on 2S NiMh batteries.

I don't want too much speed for fear of breaking things but a little more scoot to make it fun on loose surfaces and small jumps.

56T spur?
That's not RTR, it's a Wraith transmission.

Stock bomber is 64T spur and 12T pinion.

Forget the axial crap motors, get a Holmes Hobbies trailmaster Sport 550 21T. It's 20$ and will blow your mind.

Im running this in my sons Wraith with stock gearing on 2s, so far seems like a good trail/light crawling setup.

I’ve been running a Titan 21T, stock gearing, 3S and a 2 speed with the slight OD in the trans plus a HW 1080.

Zero heat, it goes about as fast as a brushless truck that can crawl and was very affordable.

I thrash it around for whole batteries and have driven it for hours in water (even completely submerged) and have had zero (zero) issues. It’s over 2 years old (maybe 3?) and has a lot of mileage on it. Probably 100+ km of driving.

I was going to go the titan route as the holmes was proving to hard to get but just had an email from a main to say they are back in stock so I just ordered one.
