Hey guys, sorry for so many stupid question but here's another:
I believe I got a little too liberal with the grease while building the axles and I dont believe I will have enough for the tranny. I was wondering if vaseline would be okay for the the tranny. If not, what other type of grease would work? Our local garage in town might have some. Have to drive 2 hrs. to lhs, dont want to do that...... Thanks

Vaseline will be quite sticky.

I think you will need a lithium based grease? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, a auto garage should stock such a grease.

Any kinda of automotive lube will work. Vaseline would help in a bind, but it's not something I'd leave in/on there.

I usually use a Castol synthetic grease made for bicycle bearings. I had some left over from my kid's bikes. It's a lot less sticky than the Axial green stuff but thicker than Tamyia white grease. Pretty smooth but still keeps things quiet.

underheat the vasaline will break down into a luqid and seep out from the tranny. it would work as a lub but i wouldnt leave it in there if it gets warm ne where you leave your truck. i would look in your garage for some bearing grease from a bike a car or even an atv or motocycle. they will all work and not break down as fast.
