--------->Quick rundown of my build... Well I opted for the kit. I got it from RC Plus. I've never built a kit and thought it would be nice to start with and go through all the evolving changes. It's a good kit. It would be nice if it was all hex head instead of phillips since you have to tap so many plastic holes. I was shorted three screws and the servo mounts are tough to tap so I used some other ones I had. Also part numbers in the book are incorrect sometimes. That and sometimes it tells you which bags to open and sometimes it doesn't. I had fun. Took me at least 8 hours to put together then another hour or so for electronics, body, etc... I put a 35T integy that RC plus had. However It makes a bad noise and took it apart and it had a broken brush. I put a old axiom 65t int it for now. (edit: I fixed it and plan on testing it out.) 87/14 Futaba 3pm Mamba running on 10 cell 3800 sub c CCBEC 5955 servo Last edited by gta3wheeler; 02-23-2009 at 11:18 PM. |

Well I made a plate that bolts to the frame in the front of the truck and put 4cells on it wired to 6cells on the back. 10 cells are fun! They are 3800s, the same I ran on my Blue Meanie. I could definitely see the difference with the added weight. It climbed a little better but really helped flexing. Before the shocks just wouldn't compress. I want to get different springs... |

I sent my CCBEC off to have warrantied and bought another to use in the meantime. I also put lead stick on weights in the center crevace of the wheel because I didn't think the tires would go on very well with it stuck on over the crevace. I had to cut them in half with sheetmetal shears but it worked and seems to help. I also bought the H3 RC from Fred Meyer for $18. It has lights, full interior and fits the SCX very well. The body uses screws for most everything (seats, windows, bumprers, etc) so it is a very good deal. It took a few hours to get everything dremeled out and mounted. I used the inner fenders and pieces of the pan to make side covers. I am going to put some green paint on it to match the beadlocks and get a light wiring kit and brake lights. I mounted a cooler, tool box, and gas can in the cargo area using velcro. I am getting a 3racing winch this week and plan to build bumpers and get a usable spare tire to mount on the rear. I am going to order lipo equipment soon. I hope a lipo will fit on the front with a servo mounted to the frame. |

Thanks. I saw another guy use it first w/ 2.2s and I just had to get it for the money. A hilux was gonna be like $80 just for all the body pieces. I may still get a hilux body going further down the road... I really like the way this H3 looks. |

Nice, it would look killer with black beadlock rings ;) Unless you do paint it green. Anymore plans for it? Roof rack or anything? |

Any thoughts of relocating the steering servo and shaving the axles? that would realy give it a scale look and its easy to do. |

The H3 looks great on that chassis. My only suggestion is paint the wheel rings red. The green looks kinda goofy on there. |

THanks for the suggestions. I plan on adding some green paint to the body for a 2tone. I like the green color. I also am going to move the servo to the frame, get a winch, and still try to fit a 3s lipo on the front!

Got me a CBP charger and 2200 3s Elite Lipo! I like the charger its a great deal. The truck is lighter, has better torque but not quite the top speed the 10 cell had. I also mounted my servo to the frame using some angle alum I had. I reconfigured the whole electronics mounting to keep the lipo up front and some weight on the back. Dont worry the wires are secure and don't hit the spur gear at all! Next is steel bumpers, sliders and get my winch mounted and wired. |

Is there any difference in the steering performance running the servo on the frame like that.
