Default Ok ran mine today for the first time...

And wow is it slow! I am running a 45t lathe on 2s lipo. I know its not supposed to be a rocket ship but sheesh I can walk along it. Should I gear up a few teeth on the pinion first and try that? I want it to be a jogging pace I guess.

Yeah that would help too, but my esc won't handle that and I don't really feel like buying another pack for it.

I threw and old Tamiya silver can and a 16t in there in that bumped up the speed to about a jog. It still has tons of grunt for crawling, but can get out of its own way now.

im running one of these http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDDA1 its super fast enough to flip the truck if i turn at full speed but plenty of low end to crawl most stuff if not just mash on the gas and rocket right up the rocks. i had mine out at our comp yesterday and i have a couple other scaler guys wanting to run the same motor now super fun fast and torque not bad coming from my drift car haha

I am running the integy 35t and it has about walking speed at full throttle. I plan on gearing it up just a tad to get a bit more out of it though.

I probably wouldn't notice as much if I wasn't running in wide open areas.

doesnt that motor have like 24 degree timing?

might not be the ideal setup for a crawler when you constantly have to reverse:?

Yeah i used to run that motor in my t4 oval truck and then ran it in my tlt based truck it was pretty decent for crawling but did lack alot when trying to back out of a bind.

scx10 all stock
Silver can Tamiya 27t mabuchi motor
14 tooth stock pinion
RadioShack 3300nimh 25 bucks part # 23-319
Top end just above my brisk walk pace
Gonna try a 20 tooth
run time,,who knows ,, lots of full throttle passes
and some crawling in the yard
at 25 minutes i stopped and discharged
the pack at 12 amps, this took about 8 minutes
Low speed control was smooth and plenty of tourqe
P.S. its my first scaler,,,love it

I thought the same thing about the speed. I have a Novak Rooster Crawler ESC wired to a Integy 55T lathe motor. I bumped the pinion up to a 21 and put in a Team Orion Rocket Pack 7cell 8.4v. Nice increase in speed and when its crawling time I can just switch pinions back.

This is almost my exact setup. I took it up to a 20t and it was fast enough for it to flip if you tried to turn hard on full throttle. Also fast enough to get alittle air if you needed to power over something.

Last weekend I went out and put my 45T Integy back in with a 16T and it's definitely slower, but I was easily at about 1.5 hours of crawling and trail running and still had some juice left over.

i have the novak goat with a 17 tooth and it goes pretty good with a 7.2 5000mah venom pack, if i punch it on the carpet it will flip the truck over.

I'm running a 35T Integy lathe motor with 7-cell Nimh and 24T pinion gear.. Plenty of wheel speed and it'll still crawl.
