How-to relocated your Servo on the C-frame: Custom steering box PART I I got looking at the newest bump-steer kit on these forums (cant remember the company that makes them?), and how they mounted it. The stock steel servo-plate mounts directly into the Steel C-frame using the holes already provided. You will need to remove both front plastic frame-rail supports, then simply bolt in some 3mm countersunk screws through the steel servo-mount and through the C-Frame, making sure to back them off with 3mm nuts. Youll need to make a custom turnbuckle to the servo from the knuckle, This can be done using threadrod & alloy tubing. http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/550/redrock016.jpg http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/1254/redrock009.jpg http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/7005/redrock010.jpg After the steel servo mount is installed using countersunk 3mm screws, Install the plastic front bumper piece as shown below. The 2nd one originally behind it cannot be used now with this mod as the servo is now in its spot. Mods: http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/9141/redrock011.jpg 1. The front steering bar (6mm x 106mm) needs to be installed on the lower side of the knuckles, instead of the way it came on the top-side. 2. Custom steering box PART II nope, it is pretty tight so far! going with a longer shock will help from servo-to-axle contact, as i have just installed TRX shocks on the front, which also gives more articulation. Ill need to buy x2 for the rear as all i had were the 2 (not shown in images above). All i need to do now is study the bump-steer set-up and im sure ill figure it out too! heeh! im at work at the moment, but as soon as i can later tonight, ill definetly take some shots of the underside & articulation. Keeping in mind that the rear shocks are still the stock SCX10's as the fronts are now TRX stampede, meaning it in theory should still get a bit more out of the articulation. |

thats the same thing i did about 3 weeks ago.... took me awhile to figure it out. but on mine, i faced the servo back with the horn facing forward. mine has a custom 4-link front and back and with the new steering, it has zero bumpsteer. |
fms i did the same setup about two months ago. works great!! just be careful!! when you mount the servo on the chassis you have to remove one of the chassis braces. if the truck takes a good front hit, it will bend the frame to either side!!!!! mine had a bad bounce and came crashing down on the driver front and bent the front frame horns down and to the right almost an inch!! not fixable because the frame is real weak there now. :evil: i just swapped to a new frame and am in the process of tying the servo into both frame rails with some kind of crossmember. other than that great setup!!!"thumbsup" |
